"Lovin' Bubbles"
Sparkling Wine Class
Bubbles are terribly misunderstood... until now. Don't know your Cava from your Sekt? Just what is the difference between Spumante and Frizzante? Why must Champagne always be so French? Well, this class will take you through the world of sparkling wines (and feature bubbly from around the world).
We'll dispel myths, defy logic and drink fizzy drinks. The evening will end with dessert sparklers and exceptional chocolate. If you've been afraid of effervescence, fear no more! We'll show you the good stuff that won't cost you a monk and a leg.
Class starts at 7:33pm Thursday, Feb 11th 211 East Franklin Street Raleigh, NC
$48 per Person

Knee deep in
knolls of sleet?
Well, the roads are clear-ish, and the thunderous sound of ice sheets cascading from our roofs onto our back decks and/or patio furniture is becoming less frequent. If you still have the shivers, however, we've planned a Saturday which promises to return sensation to your trembling fingers and put color back in your cheeks! Snuggle up with northern Italian wines on Saturday that know how to keep their footing on the ice. Kate Elia will also be featuring her Growers and Cooks stocks in Durham, and nothing washes away wintry blues like a hot cup of chicken stock! So, join us this Saturday! We promise that it will be better than seeking refuge inside a dead Tauntaun.

Our fearless leader has gone off gallivanting again! He's currently on one of his expeditions to France, catching up with some of our favorite producers. He's also gallantly tasting his way through oceans of French wine, seeking new frontiers and values while helping to illuminate regions and specialties that we are seldom able to get our hands on stateside. Follow his adventures through the interwebs: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

Tasty Tuesday:It's Groundhog Day!
This Tuesday, February 2nd, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting! Every Tuesday is tasty...
Six more weeks of winter? That's what our calendars say, but our furry friend from Pennsylvania has yet to weigh in on the matter. By next Tuesday afternoon, we'll know all the details of the marmotine verdict and will be celebrating, shadow or not, with wines fit either for an early spring or another winter wonderland (one which hopefully isn't comprised simply of giant sleet drifts next time). Cheers!

Growers and Cooks
This Saturday in Durham
Joining us at Durham's Saturday tasting is Kate Elia's Growers and Cooks! She'll be sharing samples of some of her growing line of stocks made from fresh ingredients, pastured meat, and sustainable vegetables. Also, in a delightfully Piemontese twist, she'll showcase a risotto which pairs perfectly with Saturday's wine tasting lineup!
Genuine stocks are an essential, wholesome kitchen staple that, until now, took many hours of work at home to produce. The sad alternative has long been the industrial and artificial output of the factory "food" system. Kate's authentic offerings are delicious and a cinch to use!

"A Piece of the Piemonte"
Snuggle up under the Alps!
If you're as tired as we are of being covered under a blanket of snow, join us as we seek refuge in a more comforting source of shelter. This Saturday, we're venturing into Italy's dynamic northwestern vineyards, which are home to some of its most distinctive specialties. Famously firm, these offerings range from crisp and refreshing to powerful and long-lived. Not content to simply poke around in all of the usual places, we'll be exploring both the hallmarks and the deeper cuts. Join us this weekend as we venture into this sublimely subalpine land of the vine.
100% Favorita (Vermentino)
(Piemonte, Italy)
HONEYSUCKLE, TART GREEN APPLE PIE, TOASTED WALNUTS Winegrower Giorgio Alpiste names his wines after the parcel of land on which the grapes are grown. In the case of "Quattro 20 (Venti)" (or "four winds") his Favorita vines flourish on the sandy, south-facing slopes of his family's farm in the Piemonte town of Mango, where...
100% Arneis
(Piemonte, Italy)
VIBRANT! QUINCE & FLORAL HONEY, CLEAN & DRY
This single estate has been owned by the same family for 18 generations - since 1340. Opulent, balanced, and mysterious, this Arneis, by the Cordero di Montezemolo family, really delivers the goods. Though fleshy and lush, a wonderful cleanness and clarity keep the balance brilliant...
100% Brachetto
(Piemonte, Italy)
BERRYISH AROMAS, PASTORAL VIBES, BRIGHT YET SOFT
Before passing away too young, Matteo Corregia was a pioneer in his corner of the Piemonte, Roero. His widow continued has his vision, and this wine is a great example. Her "Anthos" cuvée is made from the Brachetto grape - only ever seen in the Piemonte and almost exclusively used in light, sweet, fizzy wines. This beautiful red, however, is dry, serious, and elegant...
{organic} 100% Barbera
(Piemonte, Italy)
BOYSENBERRY & DRIED CHERRY, BRIARWOOD & CARDAMOM
Emerging from 70-year old vineyards, this firm, flavorful Barbera brings together classical structure and a generous dose of gracefully rustic forest fruit whose impressive ripeness evolves beautifully in the glass. The enchantment doesn't end there...
