Tasty Tuesday!
"Mature & Masterful"
This Tuesday, December 15th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting! Every Tuesday is tasty...
Holiday gifts are ephemeral. What seems shiny and new in the firelit glow of the season is often just another thing come February. It's important to strike the balance between instant gratification and enduring appreciation. Wines are often the same way, which is why they make such great gifts. There's the initial excitement of receiving a great bottle, the anticipation of popping the cork, and the afterglow of pleasure when the last drop is gone. A gift of wine is the gift of a singular experience. Which is why we're presenting three magnificent wines for your tasting (and gifting) pleasure this Tuesday. All three have matured for years to a point of perfection!

Free Saturday Tasting!
From 12-3pm, "try before you buy"
at our FREE Saturday tastings!
Yuletide Rhapsody
of Rheinhessen Majesty
This Saturday, we're putting the Klaus back in Santa Claus with a sampling of four of our current absolute favorites from the land of the rising lederhosen. Just in time for tidings of the Yule-er-ific variety, we've gotten robustly restocked on these brisk, old world delights from the Rheinhessen - arguably home to Germany's greatest values of today. Not only crisp and comforting, these all-season treats from the back yards of Yule elves and reindeer are phenomenal party wines and pair splendidly with the fare that we're likely to encounter at holiday feasts. Expect a liter of rockin' trocken (dry) Riesling as well as a semi-sweet slice of heaven that will win over any of us who are still on the fence about having a place for some residual sugar in our lives. Also joining us are a brilliant Pinot Noir (traditionally called Spätburgunder in Germany and, today, the country's third most planted grape) and a vibrant Silvaner. Unlimited, jubilant Yuletide cheers* included at no extra cost! *Not to be confused with Mule-ride beers, although that sounds like a great idea...
Silvaner 2014 "Alte Reben"
{sustainable} 100% Silvaner
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
FLORAL, CLEAN CITRUS, BRIGHT AND FRESH Old vine Silvaner is a true rarity in Germany's Rheinhessen. While it remains the second most planted grape (after Riesling) in Germany, it has always been in the shadows. In fact some have even accused it of neutrality. So, Frank Heyden quietly makes this from old vines, and the quality shines so...
Riesling Trocken 2014 (1-Liter!)
100% Riesling
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
LEMON & KIWI, BRIGHT ACIDITY, VERY DRY
Half a decade ago, we visited this winery while on a German wine-buying trip. Five years later, we can still confirm that the Binz estate is responsible for some of the Rheinhessen's (and Germany's) greatest values. Located on the "red slope" between Nackenheim and Oppenheim...

Riesling Spätlese 2013 "Niersteiner Hipping"
{sustainable} 100% Riesling
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
ZESTY LIME & PINEAPPLE, MAGNIFICENT MINERALITY Whatever the time of year, when we taste the zesty combination of bright citrus and restrained tropicality - the graceful contrast of mouthwatering acidity and gentle sweetness that punctuates the profile of classic Rheinhessen Spätlese, we immediately want to hit the slopes... The famously red slope of Nierstein, to be precise. Like a wintery piña colada that hasn't had any irritating songs written about it, this perennially refreshing white could bring a kiss of healthy chill to a summer evening or pair spectacularly with traditional holiday fare....
ELEGANTLY EARTHY, CHERRY JUBILATION, FIRM & FRESH Here's a medium-bodied red with healthy, cherryish red fruit and wholesome, earthen tones. Volker Schäfer has made his mark as a great winemaker (who's most famous for his reds) and as the owner of Schäfer winery along with his father. The family estate dates back...
