Join us on May 23rd (at both our Durham and Raleigh stores) from noon to 3:00 PM for our second annual Rosé Garden Party!
Discover the pairing perfection of vibrant rosé and fresh NC oysters (steamed or raw) or fried fish from Walking Fish (prepared by chefs Ricky Moore of Saltbox Seafood at our Durham store and Angela Salamanca of Centro in Raleigh). Exciting local cheese plates will also be available from Cedar Grove's newly-established Boxcarr Handmade Cheese. Boxcarr's cheese maker and co-owner Samantha Genke will be on hand in Raleigh to offer samples. Garden Party visitors at both stores will enjoy a free tasting of four rosés and then pick a glass of their favorite for $15 to enjoy with their choice of a fried fish, oyster, or cheese plate!
Be sure to don a Garden Party outfit! Party attendees with fancy hats, bow ties, or parasols will receive a 10% discount on wine purchases (and an extra 5% off on case and half-case purchases)! A best-costume winner will be selected in both Durham and Raleigh and will receive a whopping $100 Enomatic card (thus ensuring coolest-kid status). Feel free to surprise us with the outlandish rosé-themed outfits of your wildest imaginations!
PS: We need oyster shuckers at both locations. Call or reply to this email to help us out!
It's here at long last! The pink oasis that refreshes our mouths and nourishes our souls is once again in bloom! The Rosé Garden has arrived, and we're kicking off the season with selections that include the Garden's starring darling, "Venus," which has just returned in both bottle and glorious 3-LITER BOX! We're also happy to feature a brand new pink offering from the fan-favorite Austrian producer, Paul D. As always, a portion of each and every bottle of rosé sold will be donated to the fight against breast cancer!

Tasty Tuesday:
"Riffing on Ribera del Duero"
This Tuesday, May 5th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting! Every Tuesday is tasty...
The Duero River, a 557-mile goliath, flows through the arid high country of Spain's northern Castilla before reaching Portugal (where its name is changed to "Douro") and, eventually, the Atlantic Ocean. It encounters many famous wine regions along the way. Join us this Tuesday as we hit up the first and arguably most famous stop on its journey, Ribera del Duero. We'll begin with a spunky and hedonistic rosé before meeting a pair of structured and assertive reds that represent two distinct faces of the region. ¡Olé!
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting
AKA "Spooned by Spain"
Portugal provides us with some of our favorite sippers and guzzlers, winning our hearts and palates with its stupendous values while stirring our imaginations and curiosities with its fleet of extraordinary and virtually exclusive grape varieties! Join us this Saturday as we delve into four distinct regions and their very distinctive specialties. We'll begin in the country's northernmost wine region, Minho. This is the land of Vinho Verde, and it's rapidly redefining itself with riper, richer renditions of its traditional white varietals. Next we'll venture southward to Lisboa for an aromatic white made from the Arinto grape and a juicily sumptuous red made from a quartet of indigenous varietals. Our last stop brings us to the chiseled slopes of the terraced vineyards which overlook the Douro river for an imposing, generous red made from the region's three most famous grapes!
Anselmo Mendes
Loureiro Vinho Verde 2014 "Pássaros"
100% Loureiro
(Minho, Northern Portugal)
BRIGHT GRAPEFRUIT & AROMATIC PEAR, ZINGY ACIDITY Anselmo Mendes has established himself as the foremost re-imaginer of what "Vinho Verde" can represent, and he continues his winning streak with this superb Loureiro. The "Passaros" is unusual both in that it is a rare example of single-varietal Vinho Verde and in that it isn't at all spritzy. Harvested fully ripe, the Loureiro grapes perform spectacularly here...
Quinta da Romeira
100% Arinto (Bucelas, Southern Portugal)
PINEAPPLE & LIME, ROBUST AROMATICS, ZESTY & REFRESHING One of Portugal's many indigenous and (almost) exclusive grapes, Arinto is a specialist at producing aromatic white wines brimming with tropical fruit. Refreshing, beautifully-balancing acidity keeps you coming back for more tongue tinglin', lip-smackin' limishness. A subtle spiciness emerges and manages to be reminiscent of baked pineapple...
Casa Santos Lima
Lisboa Tinto 2012 "Cigarra"
Camarate, Castelão, Trincadeira, & Touriga Nacional
(Lisboa, Southern Portugal)
JUICY RED BERRY & PLUM, SLIGHTLY SPICY, FRESH & SUPPLE A four-varietal blend showcasing the fresh, juicy appeal of the Camarate and Castelâo grapes, the Cigarra layers comforting dimensions of ripe fruit with spicy aromatic appeal, maintaining a lovely affability without compromising the rich dried berry flavors and mouth filling concentration that we've...
Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas
Douro Reserva 2012 "Andreza"
40% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz
(Douro, Northern Portugal)
FIRM PLUM & DRIED MISSION FIG, WISPS OF CEDAR & VANILLA Representing a somewhat more modernist slant on the classically dark and elegantly rugged unfortified reds of the Douro valley, Lua Cheia's "Andreza" is named for a particularly stunning bend among the region's otherworldly (and very steep) vineyard-scape. The typical purple-black fruit and mouthfilling majesty are...
