Delicate blossoms are appearing on our trees and a delicate (or not so delicate) yellow film is already finding its way onto our windshields. More exciting, though, is the steady emergence of new vintages from some of our favorite rosé producers! It won't be long before our beloved Garden is in bloom once again. There's also another Garden party on the horizon at some point in the coming weeks. Speaking of the Garden Party...
Walking Fish!
Spring shares
available now!
Walking Fish, our partner at this year's upcoming Rosé Garden party, is truly a local gem, bringing phenomenally fresh seafood to the Triangle through its CSF programs. This year, they're offering the full 10 week spring CSF as well as the option to customize their delivery schedule (e.g. bi-weekly for 6 weeks or weekly for 8 weeks). The spring CSF offers an abundance of seafood from Carteret County. Members should expect to get a wide variety of seafood including triggerfish, snapper, flounder, softshell crabs, mahi, shrimp and clams.

Bodacious Bordeaux!
Our next two tastings (Saturday, the 11th and Tuesday the 14th) take a page from that southwestern French land of wine that requires little introduction: Bordeaux! This weekend, we're featuring some of our current favorites from the famed region - including some new vintages and one selection that's entirely new to our shop. On Tuesday, we're chasing a few of Bordeaux's native grapes to the far flung corners of the globe which they've conquered through their flavors, charms, and versatility. Read more below!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting
The wines of Bordeaux have a reputation for high prices and a fanbase that scrambles all over itself in frenzies of conspicuous wealth and filet mignon just to covet a few cases of the latest buzz vintage. Those of us, however, who actually love Bordeaux for its intrinsic character rather than its lofty status in the world of wine, know that the region also has some truly outstanding values. In fact, the most representative, classically-styled gems that Bordeaux has to offer aren't the ones whose prices are skyrocketing. They're the distinctive, confident offspring of the area's terroir, and they're content being themselves rather than attempting to remold themselves into the forms that grab the attention of American wine critics. Join us on Saturday as we break open a vault of fantastic Bordeaux that doesn't break the bank. New vintages, old favorites, and a brand new Cabernet-driven delight provide us with a remarkable ensemble cast of immense value!
Chateau Haut Dambert
{sustainable} 40% Sauvignon Blanc,
40% Sauvignon Gris, 20% Muscadelle
(Bordeaux, France)
GRAPEFRUIT & PEACH, FLORAL & LYCHEE-LIKE, LIVELY & EXOTIC! Always one of our best values in white Bordeaux, this crisp, aromatic beauty gives so much and costs so little. The Buffeteau family has now been farming this estate for three generations and over the last ten years has updated their winery with modern equipment so that...
Chateau de L'Hoste
Entre Deux Mers 2010 Vieilles Vignes
60% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Gris (Bordeaux, France)
JUICY TANGELO, EXOTICALLY HERBACEOUS, TOASTY OAK At a time when Sauvignon Blanc's dominance in the dry whites of Bordeaux may have reached an all-time high, this decidedly Semillon-centric blend is a welcome breath of fresh, orange citrus-perfumed air. With reminiscences of ripe tangelo and mandarin, this oak-aged Bordeaux Blanc comes complete with an indulgently toasty....
Chateau Rocher Cap de Merle
{biodynamic} 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Sauv, 10% Cab Franc
(Right Bank Bordeaux, France)
INKY COLOR, SWEET SPICES, SUPER RIPE, MODERN Size doesn't matter...Philippe Durand owns just 1 hectare of vines for this estate. Technically this wine is a Montagne Saint-Emilion, but since he brings the harvest to his Rocher Corbin winery up the road for vinification, he has to declassify this bottling. Tiny means only 600 cases produced per year...
Haut-Medoc 2011 Cru Bourgeois
60% Cab Sauv, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cab Franc
(Left Bank Bordeaux, France)
CASSIS & BLACK PLUM, CHOCOLATE, SUBTLY CEDARY Producing wines both within and just outside of the illustrious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux's Haut-Medoc, Chateau La Fon du Berger has been at it since 1983 - concentrating, appropriately, first on the vineyards and then on the vinification. This Cab-driven red offers both firm structure and gentle finesse, brimming with energetic black...
