March Madness
and Wine?
It's a Slam Dunk!
We here at your friendly neighborhood Wine Authorities like beer as much as the next guy in mesh shorts, but we still have to say that wine...makes basketball better. This is no mere beverage bias! Parties provide the perfect setting for popping corks on a variety of exciting new wines and sharing the experience with your closest friends. Even if you hate each other's favorite teams, your bond will be better preserved courtesy of delicious, estate-produced wine! And don't forget to box out...for box wine!

"The staff here is super friendly and very knowledgeable but not to the point you feel they are looking down their nose at you. They want to share their passion with you and it shows."

Tasty Tuesday:
Primed for
New Zealand!
(Feat. Pacific Prime's Eric Platt
@ Wine Authorities Raleigh)
This Tuesday, March 24th, we present our FREE
midweek wine tasting!  Every Tuesday is tasty...

5:00 - 7:00 pm
At our next Tasty Tuesday, we welcome Eric Platt of Pacific Prime Wines as special guest at our Raleigh shop.  He'll be pouring three selections from his dynamic New Zealand portfolio.  Beginning in Nelson, the northern tip of the nation's south island, we'll encounter one of our very favorite Sauvignon Blancs before jaunting over to the neighboring region of Marlborough, where we'll find a Mosel-esque Riesling brimming with minerality - a cold climate masterpiece of invigorating acidity with a dash of sweetness as icing on the cake.  Last but not least, from NZ's capital of Pinot Noir (and the most southerly wine region on the planet), Central Otago, a commandingly bold example of the classic Burgundian red is poised to unravel us with its unmistakable elegance.  The wines will be poured at both locations, but Eric will be appearing at our Raleigh shop only. Don't miss it!
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Put the Foot in
your Mouth!

(Southern Italy)
Normally, putting your foot in your mouth is something to be regretted (or, better yet, avoided), but when it comes to the wines of Italy's foot-shaped south, we've absolutely no hesitation! Join us this Saturday as we embark on a tasty journey to Basilicata, Puglia, and Campania for affable and affordable examples of the regions' specialties - some familiar, others strikingly exotic. Primitivo, Aglianico, Fiano, Greco, and a host of seldom encountered white grapes provide us with an ensemble cast. Grazie!

ZESTY LEMON & PINEAPPLE, ZIPPY MINERAL, DELICATE HERBS
Welcome to your new favorite white wine! Who'd have thought that you could make 12% alcohol, snappy white wine like this in Italy's way far south? Hailing from halfway down the heel of the boot on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, this bright...

Two quintessentially Campagnese grapes, Fiano and Greco, are not only among the most important grapes of Italy's shin-shaped eno-paradise, they're also responsible for some of the the country's most striking whites. Previously reputed to be of Greek origin, these ancient and exotically perfumed varietals can...

Aglianico 2012
"Sacravite"
100% Aglianico

(Basilicata, Italy)

GENEROUS BERRY, SMOKY MINERAL, RUSTIC LEATHER
In the northern reaches of Basilicata, at the base of the extinct volcano, Monte Vulture, D'Angelo produces distinctive, definitive Aglianico. Not content to be simply "old world" in style, this wine is perhaps "ancient world." Darkly intriguing and terroir-driven, the "Sacravite," will slowly draw you into its clutches with aromas of graphite, dried black fruits, and cordovan...

MUDDY BOOTS UNDER A CRIMSON VELVET DRESS
A bold red with blackberry fruit both elegant and rustic. Ninì Palamà is a restaurateur and vinicoltore in the southern Pugliese town of Cutrofiano. His wines are named for his father Michele Arcangelo, and they herald the divinity that rises out of Salento's chalky, clay-rich soil...
