"This shop is the first wine shop I recommend to anyone because the service is incredible, the selection diverse (and very affordable) and commitment to small producer/family farms, quality products and the local community can't be beat."

"It's Summer Somewhere" Part 2
South Africa
5.5 thousand miles south of Western Europe's vineyards lie the beautiful hills and plains of South Africa. At this week's free Saturday tasting, we celebrate some of the country's most famous specialties with prime examples of the Loire Valley natives (and siblings) Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc as well as a pair of hefty blends - one which brings the grape varietals of France's Rhone and Bordeaux together in an unlikely but delightful union and one which stars the quintessentially South African Pinotage with support from the Cabernets and Merlot. Join us on a summery wine safari smack in the middle of winter!
Raats
Chenin Blanc 2013 "Original"
100% Chenin Blanc
(Stellenbosch, South Africa)
PINEAPPLE & GOLDEN APPLE, MELON, DRY & ZIPPY Raats Family Vineyards devotes it's sunny slopes to the old-school varietals of Saumur. Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc are wondefully at home in this corner of the Southern Hemisphere, although they develop a bit more ripe fruit than their French counterparts. This is subtly...
Buitenverwachting
Sauvignon Blanc 2014 "Beyond"
100% Sauvignon Blanc (Constantia, South Africa)
LIME & LEMON, LIGHT HERBS, BRIGHT & CRISP Pronounced [bay-ten-fur-vachk-ting] and translating from Dutch to "beyond expectations," this South African producer crafts outstanding Sauvignon Blanc which is reminiscent of something from France's Loire in style but with accentuated ripeness and lime-like zestiness...
Thelema
41% Shiraz, 22% Petit Verdot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8%, Merlot. 6% Grenache, 3% Cabernet Franc! (Western Cape, South Africa)
THICK BLACK FRUIT & BRAMBLY SPICE, SMOKY OAK, MEATILY BOLD Comprised of sloping vineyards on the Simonsberg Mountain, the Thelema estate overlooks the South African capital of wine production, Stellenbosch. This bold cuvée represents a delightful collision between the famous grapes of France's Rhone Valley and Bordeaux. With a hedonistic...
Kanonkop
45% Pinotage, 29% Cab Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cab Franc (Stellenbosch, South Africa)
BOLD WITH PINK PEPPERCORN, CHERRY, RASPBERRY, ASH Legendary South African winery Kanonkop is now in their fourth generation of family winemaking. The canon is a reference to the "alarm" sounded to alert local farmers when a ship had landed at the harbor. This Kadette is produced from a blend of older vine fruit with Pinotage at the helm, lacing red and black fruits with classic scorched...
