From one Piedmont
to another!
This Saturday, we welcome Luca Garberoglio (pictured above, on the left, with his family) of Carussin! Hailing from Asti of Italy's Piemonte, he'll be pouring his family's wines as well as one of their tremendous beers at our Durham shop. These selections will also be featured at our Raleigh store, where Jay Murrie of Piedmont Wine Imports, their local importer, will be pouring and sharing his excellent and entertaining insights. Salute!

Our fearless leader has set sail again! He's gallantly tasting his way through oceans of French wine, seeking new frontiers of value and helping to illuminate regions and specialties that we seldom are able to get our hands on stateside. We understand that he's already secured some exciting new selections which we'll be able to offer at our shops later this year - wines which have never before been available in our neck of the woods. Follow his adventures through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
Real Customer Comment:
"I have to say that every wine I've gotten here has been delicious!"

We're Putting the "Ass" Back in Asti
aka "Dawn of the Donkeys"
Carussin definitely deserves renown for their superb and fiercely natural wine and beer, but they're also renowned for their donkeys - gentle creatures that actually provide comfort and therapy sessions. What springs to mind first and foremost is the adorable portrait of a donkey which adorns their "Asinoi" Barbera. It's rendered all the more memorable by the fact that said wine is typically available in a stylish and generous 3-Liter box - a care package practically of pure love from their farm in Asti! This Saturday, we're featuring three wines and a beer from the estate. Carussin's Luca will be pouring in Durham, and Jay Murrie of the local importer, Piedmont Wine Imports, will be slingin' the wine in Raleigh and talking about what makes Carussin's wines as exciting as they are!

Psst! In addition to the two Barberas and Blonde Ale listed below, there will be another special guest at our tasting this weekend. Carussin's extremely limited Nebbiolo (pictured above) will be on site! Less than a case will be available for purchase at each store, so don't dally...

Carussin
100% Barbera
(Piemonte, Italy)
CURRANT & LEATHER, TANGY BALSAMIC EDGE, KISS OF FUNK Matteo and Luca Garberoglio are the genial, laid-back fellows behind the 85 year-old Carussin estate, where they spend their days brewing beer and hanging out with donkeys. Oh, and making incredible wine. This powerful Barbera is an homage to the noble donkey, the raising of which has been a passion for Matteo and Luca's mother Bruna for decades...
Carussin
100% Barbera (Piemonte, Italy)
BOLD & BLACKBERRYISH, FIRM & SILKY, BODACIOUS BARBERA You might say a little bird told us about this wine. Actually, it's named for a bird which inhabits Carussin's vineyards and builds its tiny nests from fragments of vine which it carefully selects This wine is, itself, also the result of careful selection. It comes courtesy of grapes obtained from 35 year-old vines grown in terra rossa soil and harvested when generously...
Birra Viventi "Clan! Destino?"
(Piemonte, Italy) GOLDEN BLONDE ALE Delightfully rustic yet with a zestily clean and very refreshing appeal, the "Clan! Destino?" comes to us from a producer which we think of first and foremost as a winery, yet beer is among Luca Garberoglio's passions, and he draws inspiration from breweries around the world...
