It seems fair to describe the weather of late as having been somewhat unpredictable. That's not a complaint! It's simply an observation, and it provides us with a pretty good excuse to keep our wine racks or fridges well and diversely stocked... Friday night frosts call for bold Garnacha while sunny Sunday afternoons put us in the mood to find refreshment in a glass (or two) of chilled rosé.
Another great excuse to stock up on wine is the mighty fine selection of delicious and Daily™ delights that we're currently stocking. In fact, there's a display at each of our stores proudly announcing a few current favorites! Check out the details below.
- Domaine Le Garrigon - Vin de Méditerranée 2013 $10.99
- Laballe - Cotes de Gascogne Blanc "Les Terres Basses" 2013 $9.99
- Viña Aliaga - Tempranillo 2013 $9.99
- Domaine Magellan - Hérault Rosé "La Fruit Défendu" 2013 $11.99
- Tempore - Garnacha Joven "Terrae" 2013 $10.99
- Lezírias - Tejo Branco "Samora" 2013 $7.99

Tasty Tuesday:
Sprechen Sie Deutsch Part 2
The New Guard of Austria
This Tuesday, January 27th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting! Every Tuesday is tasty...
While it's true that what we might call the "new guard" of Austrian wine isn't exactly new anymore, the nation's wine production remains a brightly illuminated example of progress, inventiveness, and commitment to improvement which many wine-producing regions would be wise to take example from. Fifteen years ago, most people outside central Europe were not only completely unaccustomed to tasting/drinking Austrian wine, they probably had never had the pleasure of trying any. Today, Grüner Veltliner has practically become a household name for many of us in the United States. An exciting wave of change has swept through Austria, and it hasn't left traditions in shambles. The country's identity is intact, and the wines are better than ever! Join us for three examples next Tuesday.
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

It's Summer Somewhere Part 1:
South America!
Are we to be comforted or disconcerted in knowing that, as we shiver (occasionally, anyway) in our intermittently arctic North Carolina, there are places where people currently flock to beaches and down invigorating glasses of bold Torrontes? It seems more constructive to bask in anticipation of longer days and shimmering sunlight than to lament their (again, occasional) absence. Well, we have just the lineup to help with that this weekend. A fiercely floral white that practically wraps spring and summer together is joined by three bold reds that simultaneously help stave off any winter blues we may have and bravely remind us that it is indeed summer somewhere. Cheers!
Don Rodolfo
100% Torrontes
(Mendoza, Argentina)
INTENSELY FLORAL, TANGY APRICOT, LIMONCELLO-ESQUE This winery is high! Well, high in altitude at almost 3,000 feet above sea level in the southern reaches of Argentina's revered Mendoza valley. That elevation is the key to greatness here. Wicked high vineyards means super ripe fruit, both fresh and crisp with super acidity. At this elevation, only hand harvesting is used to pick the best...
Calcu
100% Cabernet Franc (Colchagua, Chile)
PLUM, CASSIS, BLACK CHERRY, DARK CHOCOLATE, TOBACCO From Colchagua Valley in central Chile, this family-owned winery brings us a distinctive Cabernet Franc. The Mediterranean climate leads to deep purple Cabernet Franc which is simultaneously reminiscent of and distinct from the grape's most famous renditions of the Loire. Bursting with dark fruit, red pepper aromas, and...
100% Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) PLUM & DARK CHOCOLATE, SOFT NOTES OF TEA & LEATHER, FULL & ROUND At heights of close to 4,000 feet, a vine produces some serious fruit. Harvested at dawn in the cool morning hours, this Malbec features blackberry and plummish fruit playing with soft tannin and a kiss of oak. Perfectly balanced and oozing with pleasure...
100% Carmenere
(Colchagua, Chile)
DEEP RED FRUIT, PEPPER & MOCHA, DUSTING OF CLOVE & ROSEMARY Vina Maquis is essentially an island perched on a stretch of land between the Colchagua Valley's Tinguirira River and Chimbarongo Creek. The two parallel waterways bring cool coastal breezes and allow the grapes to maintain healthy, balancing acidity while they ripen. While this example...
