Fall!
A Western Carolina University Leaf Color Expert (yes, there is such a thing) has rescinded her earlier prediction of a lackluster leaf season in North Carolina, and is now saying that soon everything will be exploding with riotous color. Since we are currently writing this from inside a slate-gray raincloud, a little color sounds like just the thing. Fortunately, we've got dozens of vibrant shades of wine to keep us happy during both lovely weather and gloom, and we love to share. Come see us for your leaf-viewing beverage needs! ~~~~
If you wrote a limerick or shared a haiku, the time has arrived for us to thank you...

The submission period for Limericks and Haikus has ended along with the summer. Huge thanks to the talented poets that shared their work with us! We are gathering the judges and firing up the great lumbering machine of literary appreciation, and we will announce the winners as soon as the proper protocols have been met. Watch this space!
Real Customer Comment:
"I really appreciate being able to come in here and say 'help,' and I'm always very satisfied with your recommendations!"

The ninth wonder of the world (our beautiful Rosé Garden) continues to bloom in all it's pink, juicy glory. In fact, we have two gardens for the first time this year and a whole new cadre of gardeners to tend our Raleigh Rosé. Old favorites have returned along with the requisite new arrivals, and (as always) we will donate a portion of our rosé sales throughout the year to breast cancer research. So come shop in our magnificent garden. New rosé selections are continuously blooming, and you never know what might surface next!

Tasty Tuesday!
Autumnal Rosé
(Starring Gamay)
This Tuesday, September 30th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
As we've successfully crossed the Autumnal Equinox into fall, it's of utmost importance to establish (or re-establish) that rosé drinkin' needn't end with the waning of summer. The food-friendliness, refreshing fruit, and mouthwatering acidity are as seasonless as they are timeless. Join us at our next Tasty Tuesday for three pretty, pink delights from different corners of France - each featuring the great Gamay grape, a master of youthful boldness.
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Don't be messin' with
the Rheinhessen!
.
Grapes have been cultivated in the Rheinhessen of Southwestern Germany since Roman times, but it wasn't until the region attracted the attention of noted wine-lover Charlemagne that it began to gain international fame. He was so fond of the region that many records exist of his saying things like "Y'all count your blessin's when y'all in the Rheinhessen."* The region is famous for world-class white wines marked by soaring acidity, lip-smacking fruit, and flinty minerality. Since autumn is almost upon us, this is probably our last chance to have a tasting featuring so many white wines, so we're taking advantage and gazing at three of the region's most brightly shining stars: Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Sylvaner. We'll finish with a tangy and surprising red that is sure to join your list of favorite "cocktail" wines. *(it is unclear whether Charlemagne actually said this - ed.)
Weingut Dr. Heyden
Silvaner 2013
{sustainable} 100% Sylvaner
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
FLORAL, CLEAN CITRUS, BRIGHT AND FRESH Old vine Silvaner is a true rarity in Germany's Rheinhessen. While it remains the second most planted grape (after Riesling) in Germany and counts among its siblings some of the most famous white grapes of all (Chenin Blanc and Grüner Veltliner to name only two), it has always been in the shadows...
Weingut Binz
Pinot Blanc Kabinett 2012 "Nackenheimer"
100% Pinot Blanc (Rheinhessen, Spain)
CRISP NECTARINE & HONEYDEW, GREEN APPLE, DRY Seated at a wooden table inside the winery, we were poured this delightful "Weissburgunder" by Manfred Binz himself. Bright melon and stone fruit aromas began to fill the air immediately. The estate is located squarely in Nackenheim on the "red slope," which gives the family's wines their...
Riesling Trocken 2013 "Nackenheimer"
{organic} 100% Riesling (Rheinhessen, Germany) LEMON & KIWI, BRIGHT ACIDITY, VERY DRY Half a decade ago, we visited this winery while on a German wine-buying trip. Five years later, we can still confirm that the Binz estate is responsible for some of the Rheinhessen's (and Germany's) greatest values. Located on the "red slope" between Nackenheim and Oppenheim, beautiful red earth-atop-limestone...
40% Dornfelder, 40% Portugieser,
15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
SMOOTH & DELICIOUS, BERRIES, LAVENDER & PEPPER Volker Shäfer follows in the footsteps of his father Karl-Ludwig, who is a red wine enthusiast in a region much better known for its white wine. This was no deterrent, and today they are the leading red wine specialist in the...
