Blazing Soccer Action!!!
Well, most recently it hasn't been "blazing" so much as one-sided and vaguely depressing. But we're sure that the remaining matches will prove to be a gripping, forthright, air-conditioned respite from the mind-melting heat that has engulfed our fair cities. Seriously, it's so damn hot...

The ninth wonder of the world (our beautiful Rosé Garden) has re-sprouted in all it's pink, juicy glory. In fact, we have two gardens for the first time this year and a whole new cadre of gardeners to tend our Raleigh Rosé. Old favorites have returned along with the requisite new arrivals, and (as always) we will donate a portion of our rosé sales throughout the year to breast cancer research. So come shop in our magnificent garden. New rosé selections are continuously blooming, and you never know what might surface next!

Tasty Tuesday!
Post-Bastille Bistro Blowout: A Bash Blast
This Tuesday, July 15th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
Our next Tasty Tuesday lands just shy of Bastille Day, so the most Francophilic among us will have already celebrated if not the arrival of French democracy then at the very least our favorite Serge Gainsbourg albums while gorging ourselves on boudin noir, escargot, and oysters along with copious amounts of Cotes du Rhone Villages and Muscadet (not that we don't do that every Monday night). In any case, join us on Tuesday as we tackle that most French of institutions: the bistro. A new and very noteworthy Muscadet will help us get started with it's crystalline minerality and pleasantly palate-awakening acidity. Next, we'll take our cue from the Lyonnaise cuisine that we'd readily find in one of the second-largest French city's bouchons in the form of a Syrah-based Rhone rouge that is equally at home with venison sausage & morels or Coq au Vin. At last, we'll end where we could have begun, with a cherryish, spicy aperitif, a Pineau des Charentes Rosé. Happy La Fête Nationale!
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
in Durham & Raleigh
This Saturday, we'll be kickin' it eastside along the regions which occupy Italy's Adriatic coastline. We'll begin where the nation's Northern and Central portions collide. Perhaps best known for its famously hearty cuisine, Emilia-Romagna also makes an indispensable contribution to the world of wine in the form of (typically red) fresh, bubbly Lambrusco. The example we'll put before you this weekend is dressed in white, a blanc de noirs of sorts - produced without the influence of the pigments in the red grapes' skins. Next, we'll find ourselves in Tuscany's easterly neighbor, Marche, for an example of the Verdicchio grape which transcends typical expectations for how ripe and rich these refreshing, seafood friendly whites can be. Continuing on our journey south, we'll stop in Abruzzo to meet Montepulciano, the starring grape of eastern Central Italy. Charmingly gentle and generously ripe, this flavorful and characterful example reminds us why the varietal has earned itself so many international admirers in recent years. The afternoon's final wine comes courtesy of northern Puglia. Just above Italy's famously stiletto-like peninsula is Gioia del Colle, and its here that we'll find a bold example of the Croatian native that most of us know best as California's "Zinfandel." It's equally important in Italy's southeast, where it goes by "Primitivo." Predictably purply and spicy but a bit firmer and less jammy than many of its US counterparts, it will provide us provide us with the perfect ending to an afternoon in Italy's excellent east. È finito!

Verdicchio 2012 "Tenuta Cavaliere"
100% Verdicchio (Marche, Italy)
BRIGHT, TANGY LEMON AND CRYSTALLINE ACIDITY Imagine picking a smooth dark stone from a fast-flowing river. Hold the wet stone to your nose and inhale deeply; it's a sharp, clean, yet earthy smell, one famously reproduced by the best Verdicchio wines. Maurizio Marchetti harvests his grapes...
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2012 "Forty"
100% Montepulciano (Abruzzo, Italy)
RIPE POMEGRANATE, SUBTLE LEATHER, WHIFF OF LIME
Once you've grown up enough to become immune to the charms of enormous vessels of low-quality malt liquor, you can still enjoy a "forty" now and again. This "forty" refers to the age of Lidia & Amato's Montepulciano vines that lie nestled...

Primitivo 2011 "Rosa"
{organic} 100% Primitivo (Zinfandel) (Puglia, Italy)
RED RASPBERRY, DRIED CHERRY, SUBTLE EARTH & SPICE The earliest records naming Primitivo in Puglia arise precisely from Gioia del Colle, where the 18th century priest Filippo Francesco Indellicati marveled at how this hardy varietal flourished on the plateaus of Le Murge, ripening early to...
