We've just recovered from a fantastic weekend, and our first ever double-city Rosé Garden Party is on the books! Thanks to all who attended, especially our army of dedicated oyster shuckers and fish fryers. We couldn't have done it without you. Well, we could have, but we'd probably have ended up like this...
Also, extra-special thanks to everyone that brightened our doors by wearing their garden party finest. There were some truly sharp looking people and some truly amazing hats, but there could be only one winner for each store. If you see your picture below (Alia in Durham and Ashley & Erin in Raleigh), you are the garden-partiest and we have a $100 Enomatic card waiting for you!
Alia in Durham
Ashley & Erin in Raleigh
There's plenty more crazy rosé-fueled debauchery to indulge in, however, because summer unofficially kicks off this Memorial Day weekend! We've also got the always great Six-for-$60, three-liter boxes, and all kinds of crisp whites to take to the beach. If you do opt to stay in town, we are featuring the world-class and quintessentially American wines from the Great State of Oregon this Saturday. You'll probably run into these two...

Vine to Wine
At Wine Authorities Raleigh
Our in-depth introductory class returns!
7:33 pm. Thursday, May 29th
Join us at our new Raleigh store for a fun and educational evening of wine which chronicles a vine's bud break in the spring to each of its grape's being lovingly squeezed into the bottles that we hold so dear.  We cover how vines are grown and how wine is made as well as how to read a label, how to buy wine, how to store wine, how to drink, er, taste wine... and we'll debunk many wine myths throughout this concise but thorough two hour class.

THE CAUSE

The most recent agriculture census reported that NC was tied for first in the nation in loss of farmland in 2007. Loss of North Carolina farms is equally alarming with a loss of half of the farms from 100,000 farms in 1976 to 52,500 farms in 2008. Nationally, we have lost 1 million acres of farmland since 1997 and there are now more people in prisons than on farms. With the average age of farmers now 59, it is critical that we support the training and development of new farmers. Proceeds of the Farm to Fork Picnic support the new farmer training programs at CEFS and the Breeze Farm.

Adult ticket (21+) - $100
Youth ticket (13-20) - $50
Free for children 12 & under.

Proceeds benefit farmer apprentice and internship programs.

The Oregon Trail
aka "A Party with Pinot"
At this Saturday's free tasting, we venture into the great untamed west - the Pacific Northwest, to be precise.  Gaining momentum and a multitude of admirers, Oregon has rapidly become a force to be reckoned with in the arena of classical cooler climate European varietals, especially the Pinot grapes which originated centuries ago in eastern France's Burgundy.  Fittingly, we'll be presenting not only everyone's favorite Oregonian adoptees, Pinot Noir and Gris, but also an unusually robust example of the somewhat lesser-known Pinot Blanc.  Harness the oxen and bring your spirit of adventure!
