It's a Party 'round the Garden!
(In Durham & Raleigh)
PAAAAARRTTTYYY! Garden Party, to be exact, in honor of the annual blooming of our Rosé Garden, often referred to by historians as The Greatest Thing on Earth. To match our garden's pink, juicy glory, we're throwing an ambitious two-city simultaneous Rosé Rager on Saturday, May 17th. Oysters will be shucked, fish will be fried, and (of course) the wine will flow. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks, but we wanted to send this early invite so we all have a chance to save the date and plan our Garden Party Outfits.
Oh yeah, you're definitely gonna need a Garden Party Outfit...

Prodigal Farm
Kickstarter Project
Our friends at the local, humane, pasture-based farm are building a cheese aging space in order to become even more sustainable: "We raise goats the hardest way: humanely, always on pasture, mirroring the lives they'd live in nature, but with better care and better protection from predators. No other commercial-scale goat dairy in North Carolina bears the Animal Welfare Approved certification, and very few do nationwide. We make beautiful cheeses which in three years have found a market from New York's Hudson River Valley to New Orleans. In those three years, we've discovered some bottlenecks and business challenges."

Boxes are Blooming!
While you might have heard of "Christmas in July," "Boxing Day in May" is probably slightly less familiar. That's okay! We're here to fill you in on all the juicy details. Returning just in time for all our favorite vernal festivities is a stable of beloved Rhone and Provençal boxed wines. Domaine Le Garrigon's famous Vin de Méditerranée and Cotes du Rhone, along with Domaine Pinchinat's Venus Rouge and Rosé, are finally back! We also welcome our newest arrival to the wild world of 3L, Apaltagua's "Gran Verano" Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile's Curico, which joins the estate's crisp, tropical box o' Sauvignon Blanc! To celebrate all the boxy goodness we have going on up in here, our next Saturday Tasting (May 3rd) features the wines of Domaine Pinchinat, an estate which knows that it's sometimes best to think inside the box, so glass bottles are set to share the spotlight with space-age sachets forged of mylar and cardboard.

THE BOXES OF NOW:

- Herdade do Esporão - Branco "Alandra" NV $24.99 [3L]

Tasty Tuesday!
"Three Heads are
Better than One"
This Tuesday, May 13th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
Sure, plenty of venerable wines are made from single varietals, but numerous regions have signature recipes which often consist of three-grape blends. Join us on the 13th as we explore two classic examples of this: a Merlot / Cab-Sauv / Cab-Franc combination from southern Bordeaux and a Grenache / Syrah / Mourvedre melding from the Southern Rhone Valley. These famous trios have, today, made their mark on wines around the world through fashionable phenomena such as the "Meritage" and "GSM." And because innovative three-grape blends are all the rage, we'll start our tasting with a unique collaboration between Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, and a very rare varietal found only in southeastern Spain known as Verdil. Three heads are better than one...
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
in Durham & Raleigh
"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting
This Saturday, join us in Germany's Rheinhessen and Pfalz as we explore some of the country's spring-friendly wine specialties! The tasting's alpha and omega is the quintessentially German Riesling grape - demonstrated first as an elegantly dry bubbly that's perfect for toasting moms and grads alike. Examples of Silvaner and Pinot Blanc provide variety and brilliantly showcase two of the nation's most significant white grapes. As promised, the tasting will end as it began with a beautiful example of dry Riesling (this time coming in gloriously almost-ample one liter format)!

100% Pinot Blanc (Rheinhessen, Germany)
CRISP NECTARINE & HONEYDEW, GREEN APPLE, DRY Seated at a wooden table inside the winery, we were poured this delightful "Weissburgunder" by Manfred Binz himself. Bright melon and stone fruit aromas began to fill the air immediately. The estate is located squarely in...

Riesling Trocken 2013 "Nackenheimer" 1-Liter!
100% Riesling (Rheinhessen, Germany)
LEMON & KIWI, BRIGHT ACIDITY, VERY DRY Half a decade ago, we visited this winery for the first time while on a German wine-buying trip. We can still confirm that the Binz estate is responsible for some of the Rheinhessen's (and Germany's) greatest values. Located on the "red slope" between Nackenheim and Oppenheim...
