Greetings!
Al Fresco with Scratch!
Sipping great wines in the warm glow of the setting sun overlooking the Duke Gardens while an amazingly talented chef prepares a spread of mind-blowing food is a seasonal highlight of the springiest kind. Let's do it again! This time, we're teaming up with Phoebe Lawless of Scratch for our second al fresco picnic in the astounding Discovery Garden. The menu will be a four-course Mediterranean- styled meal served family style, with wines picked and poured by your friendly neighborhood Wine Authorities. Make a reservation today! Details below!
The Food: Prepared by the renowned Phoebe Lawless and her staff from Scratch Bakery and Café. Phoebe has been written about by the NY Times, Bon Appetit, Southern Living and Food & Wine, among others. She was also a finalist for the 2013 James Beard Best Baker award and referred to as a "wizard" by the Indy.
The Wine: Wine Authorities showcases the estate wines from wineries that grow all of the grapes that go into the wine. Simply put, estate wine producers are as much farmers as they are winemakers. A trip to Wine Authorities always means learning something new about the wines you enjoy.

This Tuesday, April 15th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
Austria's superstar grape, Grüner Veltliner, has always known how to strike a balance between the immediate appeal of its refreshing drinkability and the complex elegance of its increasingly world-famous minerality. This combination is like an intricate (and very groovy) tie dye - all of the wine's intricacies swirling together. Join us this Tuesday as we begin in the varietal's native central Europe before chasing it to opposite corners of the globe: the Edna Valley of California and New Zealand's Nelson. It's groovy.
And don't forget
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

The Wines of Austria
What's red & white, green & blue, and delicious all over? Follow the dancing grapes (pictured above with name tags featuring their initials) to Austria's eastern borders. It's along this crescent shaped divide that we'll find the nation's revered wine producing regions. Beginning in Kamptal with the grape most fitting to open a tasting of Austrian wines, Grüner Veltliner, we'll make our way southward into Wagram for a delicious dry Riesling and Burgenland for a Zweigelt-dominated red blend as well as a spicily-perfumed example of the quintessentially central European red Blaufränkisch grape. Prost!
