Grapevines throughout the Northern Hemisphere are just starting to awaken from their winter slumber, and that can mean only one thing; it's almost April Fool's Day. We are understandably nervous, as winemakers are incorrigible pranksters. Something about the spring budding gives them the crazy idea that it would be funny to, say, put all the labels on upside down. Or hide live cobras in the shipping boxes. They really got us with that one! It was traumatic! Anyway, we've got our eyes peeled for any suspicious behavior this year, and we're determined not to get pranked. In fact, our Tasty Tuesday this week is all about not getting fooled by incorrect "common knowledge" when it comes to wine. Read on! In other news, the 2015 Alaskan Pinot Noirs are in, and they are delicious...

Rosé Sale:
20% Still off ALL Still Rosé!
That's right, baby. There's still time to save with our annual pre-spring rosé sale, and it's real, real nice... Yes, the time has come for us to dust off our garden shears (and garden gnomes) in preparation for the monumental marvel of landscape architecture which is the Rosé Garden. Just thinking about it instills in us an almost unquenchable thirst for this noblest of pink drinks! Though it's not yet quite time for the Garden, we have a host of wonderfully vibrant rosés in stock to choose from at a deep discount. All still rosé is 20% off for a limited time, so enjoy and celebrate the approach of spring!

This Tuesday, April 1st, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
5:00 - 7:00 pm
Featuring Grave Grape Blunders...
Prepare to be dynamically un-fooled this Tuesday as we celebrate April 1st by eroding a few misconceptions about grape varietals which are well-overdue for quashing. Join us as we explore the fact that there's not anything inherently oaky or buttery about Chardonnay. We'll explain why there's no whisper more sweetness in Riesling that's had all of its sugar fermented into alcohol than there would be in a wine made from any other grape. We'll also tear right into the mystifyingly still fashionable anti- Merlot sentiment whose foundation was laid by overproduction and cemented by Hollywood. You won't get fooled again!
And don't forget
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting
...to the Languedoc!
Stretching westward from the Rhone River's delta for over 150 miles and ending in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the Languedoc is a sprawling paradise of the vine. Once in danger of being dismissed as a hub of quantity over quality, it has quickly and quietly escaped the less flattering stereotypes which previously haunted it - still providing wine lovers the world over with outstanding values but no longer seen simply as the source of France's languishing "wine lake." Join us this Saturday, as we wade into the delicious depths of the Languedoc, focusing on four phenomenal blends whose distinctly Mediterranean mettle may very well chase away the remainder of our late wintry blues. Say "Oc"!
Domaine La Bouysse
Hauterive IGP Blanc 2012
{organic} 54% Grenache Blanc, 26% Maccabeu, 15%Viognier, 5% Muscat à Petits Grains
(Western Languedoc, France)
HONEYSUCKLE & GARDENIA, PEAR, & LIGHT CITRUS Our friend Martine Pages (PAH-jess) is really hitting her stride. The current vintages of all of her wines are the best she's ever made. This white is lush and full, but bright and lively. It's expansive and sophisticated, but tangy and full of personality...
Abbaye Sylva Plana
Faugeres Blanc 2011 "Le Blanc"
{organic} 45% Roussanne, 45% Grenache Blanc, 10% Viognier (Central Languedoc, France)
BAKED GOLDEN APPLE & LEMON ZEST, LEAN ACIDITY This is one of those serious yet eccentric white wines that matures in the glass right before your nose. Fresh and cold out of the fridge, it's all refreshing citrus and tart acidity, but rounder and richer apple and pear flavors unfold as...
Carignan, Grenache, Syrah (Western Languedoc, France)
EARTHY, DARK RED FRUIT, PROVENÇAL HERBS Since 1771, Gasparets has been producing fantastic Corbieres. This is a particularly dark one with sweet red fruit, vanilla, clove and essence of garrigue (wild herbs). The vineyards are way up high and very rocky, lending to...
Domaine Borie La Vitarèle
Saint-Chinian 2011 "Les Terres Blanches"
{organic} 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre (Western Languedoc, France)
DARK RASPBERRY, VERY RIPE, GARRIGUE, PURPLE & FIRM Nestled amongst the garrigues within a pine forest, the few acres of Borie la Vitarele's old vines are treated like a private garden, employing biodynamic compost made from local plants. Hand-harvesting ensures quality, and the wine is aged for twelve months in French oak...
