You should be receiving this email on the very first day of spring. Our predictions? The immediate blooming of every flowering plant on earth will fill the air with a heady perfume, causing a bird/bee orgy to break out. The gyrations of millions of tiny bodies will raise the ambient temperature to a balmy 77 degrees, and it will stay that way, forever, and no one will ever be cold again. That's how spring works, right? Anyway, we can't wait for the opportunity to show off our brand new Wine Authorities branded tank-tops and cut-off jorts. Spring: it's right around the corner, baby.

Farm-to-Fork Garden Picnic Dinner
One of the best new restaurants in the Triangle operates out of a tiny shack on a nondescript block of N. Mangum St. in Durham. We refer, of course, to the already legendary Saltbox Seafood Joint and its proprietor, Chef Ricky Moore. Wine Authorities is teaming up with Chef Moore and the fine folks over at Duke Gardens to bring you the first of our Farm-to-Fork Garden Dinners, right as the weather turns into luxuriant spring (we hope). Chef Moore will be on hand for an al fresco evening of masterfully prepared seafood and garden-sourced vegetables, and we will be pouring a selection of crisp whites and lively rosés to complement the delicious food. It's gonna be a picnic for the ages. Details follow below. Sign up now!
The Food: Ricky Moore of Saltbox Seafood Joint serves local, sustainable seafood harvested from the Carolina coast and the entire eastern seaboard. He is also a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, a previous Iron Chef contestant and former executive chef at Carrboro's GlassHalfFull.
The Wine: Wine Authorities showcases the estate wines from wineries that grow all of the grapes that go into the wine. Simply put: the estate wine producers are as much farmers as they are winemakers. A trip to Wine Authorities always means learning something new about the wines you enjoy.
The Setting: Sarah P. Duke Gardens, voted one of the top ten public gardens in the United States by Trip Advisor.com and awarded the 2013 Horticulture Magazine Award for Garden Excellence.
Thursday, April 3, 6 pm @ Sarah P. Duke Gardens:

That's right, baby. It's time once more for our annual pre-spring rosé sale, and it's real, real nice... Just thinking about it instills in us an almost unquenchable thirst for this noblest of pink drinks! Though it's not yet quite time for the Garden, we have a host of wonderfully vibrant rosés in stock to choose from at a deep discount. All still rosé is 20% off for a limited time, so enjoy and celebrate the approach of spring!

This Tuesday, March 25th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
In a slam dunk of central Italian proportions, we're rolling out some serious "Marche Madness" at this week's Tasty Tuesday. Marche, wedged between Tuscany and the Adriatic Sea, may not be quite as famous among American wine drinkers as its western neighbor, but its specialties are every bit as dynamic. Join us in sampling two examples of the vibrant whites made from the region's Verdicchio grape - one classically crisp and seafood-friendly, the other stepping up its aromatic game and body. Bold, fragrant Montepulciano from Rosso Conero rounds the tasting out, scoring enough points for a decisive victory!
And don't forget
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Wear Green with Green Spain:
Galicia!
Though the better part of a week may have passed since this year's Saint Patrick's Day, we're featuring wines this Saturday from one of the Gaelic-esque-est corners of mainland Europe, Spain's Galicia! After all, when we get decked out in green, we prefer to be fashionably late. Galicia is affectionately referred to as "Green Spain", and not only are its colors suited perfectly to the recent Irish holiday, but Galicia actually takes its name from the Celtic people that settled there over two thousand years ago. The region's wines are unique and focus on grapes which are found only in Iberia's Northwest. Godello and three examples of Mencia are set to provide us with distinctive Galician ambassadors for our tasting this Saturday. Don't forget to wear green (at least in spirit)!
Bodegas Virxen de Galir
Godello 2012
"Via Nova"
{sustainable} 100% Godello
(Galicia, Spain)
HEADY FLOWER GARDEN AROMAS, LUSH WHITE FRUIT, GOLDEN APPLE High up in Galicia, the Godello grapes that make up this exquisite wine cling precariously to the steep mountain slopes. At inclines over 40 degrees, they are drenched in sun and ripen beautifully...
Caparsa
Mencia 2012 "Via Nova"
{sustainable} Mencia (Galicia, Spain) MEDIUM BODIED, CHERRY, STAR ANISE, COFFEE Another wonderful offering from the vertiginous shale slopes of Virxen de Galir's Galician vineyards. Intense sunshine mixed with cool breezes makes for slow and steady grape maturation and sophisticated...
D. Ventura
Ribeira Sacra 2012 "Viña do Burato"
{organic} 100% Mencia (Galicia, Spain)
MINERAL, BOLD RASPBERRY, SPICY COFFEE FINISH Wow, 80+ year old Mencía vines grown in slate soils showing the purest fruit flavors from just stainless steel aging - no barrels touched this wine! Intense in flavor, but mid-weight on the palate, we love this grape and region...
D. Ventura
Ribeira Sacra 2011 "Viña Caneiro"
{organic} 100% Mencia (Galicia, Spain)
FIRM PLUM & RIPE CASSIS, DARK PEPPERY MINERAL Mencia is not only the signature red grape of Galicia, but it can be counted among northwestern Iberia's most iconic varietals. Previously (and erroneously) rumored to be a descendent of Cabernet Franc, it's origins today remain a mystery. This example from Ribeira Sacra...
