It's Fromage-uary!
We here at Wine Authorities spend much of our time contemplating the course of history so that we might rest assured that, yes, the process of fermenting grapes into wine is indeed the crowning discovery of human civilization. But winemakers aren't the only ones who embrace the importance of "turning things into more delicious things"; in those rarefied halls also dwells the affineur, under whose watchful eye, milk becomes cheese. And cheese is the second most delicious thing in the world. So in honor of these two miracles of time and microbial revelry, we christen this month "Fromage-uary." Come check out our new display, built from wines handpicked to go with our favorite cheeses. And this is as good a time as any to point out that we are always growing and strengthening our cheese selection. Exalt with us in the best possible pairing. It's Fromage-uary!

Tasty Tuesday!
Northern Portuguese Paradise
This Tuesday, February 18th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
The ancient Romans knew what was up, and so did the Victorian British, but we here in modern America are still just beginning to excavate the joys Northern Portuguese wine. These wonderful wines tend to fly under the radar with their obscure yet venerable indigenous grape varietals - unusual for one of the most magnificently beautiful wine regions in Europe. It's this low profile, however, that makes these wines such incredible values. Join us on Tuesday as we pour a crisp and complex Alvarinho, an earthy and age-worthy Bairrada, and a Douro packed with rich, dark fruit.
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 15%
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Fromage-uary Spotlight:
Loire Valley Perfection!
Bookended by bubbly and consisting only of the cheesiest of champions, this Saturday's tasting is a Fromage-uary fest of Loire-lovin' lore. What makes these wines so cheesy, you might ask? They pair tremendously with cheese and share their origins along France's 600 mile cradle of not only some of the country's greatest cheeses but also its most grandiose chateaux. Read more about Saturday's fab five selections below...

(Middle-Loire, France)
RICH & FINELY TEXTURED, GOLDEN APPLE, HAZELNUT Produced in exactly the same way as Champagne, but from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley, this Brut has very fine bubbles with persistent aromas of white fruit, apples, pears and citrus such as lemon. The floral aromas of acacia come...
Domaine Ricard

100% Sauvignon Blanc (Middle-Loire, France) EXOTIC TROPICAL FRUIT, FLINTY, VERY PRETTY Vincent Ricard is the latest generation (of many) to farm his 13 hectares of vineyards, but the first to make wine for sale under the family name. Instead of selling off his grapes to the local co-op, he makes small batches of...
Domaine Michel Girard
Sancerre 2012
100% Sauvignon Blanc (Eastern Loire, France)
RICH & RIPE, LIGHT MINERAL, SAVORY HERBAL Winemaker Philippe Girard says this about his wine: "pungent fresh grassy aromas mingle with riper citrus-style fruits, rounder and fuller in the mouth but nevertheless finishing with a pure intensity and zippiness that you'd expect in classy Sancerre. Sauvignon Blanc at its best!" We couldn't agree more...
Domaine Grosbot Barbara
Saint-Pourçain Rouge 2010 "Chambre d'Edouard" 100% Pinot Noir (Southern Loire, France)
BRIGHT & AROMATIC. BERRIES, HERBAL HINT. TANGY In 2001 a Pinot Noir-loving friend of vigneron Denis Barbara elected to sleep through the night in Pinot Noir tank number seven, then empty, of Denis' new winery. Now his 100% Pinot Noir cuvee is nicknamed "Chambre d'Edouard" (Edward's room.) This wine is lovely and aromatic with...
Domaine Robert Serol
Methode Ancestrale Rosé "Turbullent"
{organic} 100% Gamay Saint-Romaine
(Southern Loire, France)
JUICE RED BERRY & APPLE, LIGHTLY SWEET YET BRACING This is Robert Serol's delightfully effervescent Gamay! Made in the méthode ancestrale from 100% hand harvested grapes, it tops out at a deliciously light 8.5% alcohol, so serve it liberally at your next dinner party...
