Raleigh, we have liftoff!
Celebrate with us this Saturday!
Wine Authorities Raleigh is open in all it's spacious glory, and we are throwing the Grand Opening of the Century to celebrate! And it's not just us tapping the wine-kegs and kicking out the jams; we've hauled in a party-bus-load of our friends to help us share the love. Ponysaurus Brewing's Keil Jansen will be pouring some of his small-batch craft beers. Bruno Arricastres of Wine Without Borders will polish his finest cowboy boots to pour wine alongside Jen Vieceli of The Country Vintner and Jay Murrie of Piedmont Wine Imports. Phoebe Lawless of Scratch Baking is bringing the deviled ham and granola with buttermilk while Kelli Cotter of Toast got that vinaigrette up in the house. The Notorious DOCG herself will sample out cheese from our significantly bulked-up selection. The world-renowned food truck, Pie Pushers (parked in propitious proximity) will be peddling pizza pies. Oh, and there'll be a magician from noon to two. His name is Captain Kid, and he is nothing short of ASTONISHING! He rolls with a parrot named Jax.
Saturday's Schedule
aka Six Hour Party People:
We've worked very hard to bring this new Wine Authorities into existence, and we could not be more proud. We're looking forward to building a new community of friends and customers in the Oak City, and an all-day bash seems like a great way to meet new people. So come on down. Let's party. Check our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages for the latest updates...

Tasty Tuesday!
Bodegas Tempore of Aragón
This Tuesday, January 14th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty!
If the phrase "Kingdom of Aragón" evokes thoughts of an imposing landscape filled with ancient castles and fortified cities, then you're on the right track as that's exactly what it was, but there's also a treasure in the hills, and that powerfully purpley quarry is the equally ancient Garnacha grape. Garnacha (or, as the french call it, Grenache) is a native to these arid northern Spanish climes, and it continues to reach its rich, ripe zenith in this awe-inspiring environment. Join us on Tuesday for a tangy rosé and two deliciously different reds from the excellent Tempore, a producer whose work has never before been available in North Carolina. Garnacha guaranteed!
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 15%
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
in Durham "try before you buy" at our FREE tasting
Profound Primitivo!
This weekend, we arm ourselves against the cold with one of the world's most comfortingly warming, spicy, and indulgent grapes, Zinfandel...or is it Primitivo? That depends on whether you're from California or Puglia, the two adoptive homes of the ancient Croation grape, Crljenac Kastelansk (try saying that three times fast).
Though its even older name, Tribidrag, has been all but forgotten in its native Dalmatia, the grape itself has never had so many admirers. This week, we celebrate the varietal with a tasting of two examples from Italy's heel-shaped Puglian peninsula and two from the United State's wild western California!
This week's Saturday tasting will be featured in Durham only (as Wine Authorities Raleigh is having a grand opening party on Saturday).
Plantamura
Primativo 2011 "Rossa" 100% Primativo
(Puglia, Italy)
RED RASPBERRY, DRIED CHERRY, SUBTLE EARTH & SPICE The earliest records naming Primitivo in Puglia arise precisely from Gioia del Colle, where the 18th century priest Filippo Francesco Indellicati marveled at how this hardy varietal flourished on the plateaus of Le Murge, ripening early to combat hot days and plummeting temperatures at night. Mariangela Plantamura's vines were planted by...
Palama
Primitivo 2011 "Arcangelo"
100% Primitivo
(Puglia, Italy)
MUDDY BOOTS UNDER A CRIMSON VELVET DRESS A bold red with blackberry fruit both elegant and rustic. Ninì Palamà is a restaurateur and vinicoltore in the southern Pugliese town of Cutrofiano. His wines are named for his father Michele Arcangelo, and they herald the divinity that rises out of Salento's chalky, clay-rich soil. This luscious...
Wellington
Zinfandel 2008
100% Zinfandel (Sonoma, California)
BRAMBLY RAISIN, SMOKE, VANILLA & SAGE The Wellington father and son team come through again, making great value wines that pack a wallop of flavor. Figs and prune flavors with a touch of herbal sage on the finish. This is brambly with wild raspberry and black pepper...
Cedarville Vineyards
Zinfandel 2010 {biodynamic} 100% Zinfandel (Sierra Foothills, California)
RIPE RASPBERRY, PLUM & COCOA, TOASTY OAK El Dorado is located at the base of the Sierra Foothills, and this vineyard sits at about 2,500 ft above sea level! Husband and wife, Jonathan and Susan, met in enology school and made it their goal to own a vineyard one day. Cedarville is a modern day ghost town left behind from...
