Happy Halloween!
Screaming
Happy Halloween everybody! We've had a fun week of terrifyingly delicious wine tastings, grisly decorations, and general spooky buffoonery. But today is the real deal, y'all! All Hallows Eve! Tonight is the night for children of all ages and weird candy-seeking adults to join the ghouls and monsters of this world for an evening of tricks and treats. In England, where they go totally crazy on Halloween, tonight is the night to bob for apples and carve jack-o'-lanterns out of turnips.

"Let's Do the Time Warp Again"

And this weekend, it's time to defy the very laws of space and time by setting our clocks back an hour in accordance with bafflingly archaic agricultural traditions! So if you're knocking on the door on Sunday and no one is here, just wait an hour. Along with this annual timefoolery, many of us traditionally celebrate the decidedly non-threatening month of November with another beloved holiday.

Tasty Tuesday!
Visiting Vignerons of the Loire
This Tuesday, November 5th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty!
  5:00 - 6:45 pm
At our upcoming Tasty Tuesday, we welcome special Loire Valley guests Jerome Choblet (meting out his masterful Muscadet) and Arnaud Lambert (with samples of his sumptuous Saumur).  These talented guys are responsible for some of our favorite offerings year round, and they're especially appropriate right now!  As oyster season has just begun, Jerome's chiseled, minerally whites are in high demand.  Arnaud's Cabernet Francs remind us of the spicy perfume of autumn leaves and are excellent companions for the hearty stews that we love as cooler weather gains ground.
Following this free tasting, Arnaud's and Jerome's wines will be starring in an exquisite Loire-themed dinner at Vin Rouge.  Check out the details (and reservation information) above!
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 15%
Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

 "Hang a Left at Bordeaux!"
Wines of Graves and the Mdoc
This week, we're chartering a vessel and setting northward from the banks of the Garonne River, following it upstream into the Gironde (and practically all the way to its Atlantic mouth).  Of course, we'll be sampling wines from the famous "Left Bank" appellations along the way.  Beginning in Graves, traditionally home to Bordeaux's best-known whites, we'll find a crisp Sauvignon Blanc-driven blend filled with bright citrus and characteristic minerality.  Next, we'll reach the borders of Pessac-Lognan and encounter a stoney red which ranks among the best Bordelais values year in and year out.  From here, we'll focus our attention to the southern and northern extremes of the Haut Mdoc (namely Margaux and Saint-Estphe) for prime examples of the region's bold Cabernet Sauvignon-centric reds Miss this, and you'll feel left out...

CASSIS & RIPE BLACKBERRY, FIRM GRAVELLY MINERALITY
Just 7 hectares of gravely, clay soil vineyards, this estate is tiny and part of the family since the 1800s. High density plantings and short pruning concentrate and focus the flavors in the wine. Final hand-harvesting ensures quality in the bottle. Berengere is the young woman winemaker creating a...

AROMATIC WITH EARTHY SPICE & BLACK TEA, TRADITIONAL & RICH
Textbook Margaux! Subtly perfumed, and simultaneously supple and firm. This is the classic style of Bordeaux with perfect balance and a long, long finish. CASSIS & BLACK PLUM, ROASTED CACAO, FIRM & SERIOUS
Representing the northernmost commune of Bordeaux's Cab-centric Haut-Mdoc, this powerful red is symbolic of all the strengths upon which the region has built its reputation. Sternly-constitutioned and brimming with generous black fruit, chocolate, coffee, and a silken, clay-like minerality, this very serious wine still clearly knows how to have a good time...
