Greetings!
The Garden Comes Down...
Piemonte Goes Up!
Listen, it's no secret that we love rosé. Over summer, we act like the very gears of the earth are greased by luscious pink wine. We build an elaborate alter (the rosé garden) to declare our undying devotion these wines, and there's a rumor that - late at night - we pray to it.
That rumor is true.
But alas, it is time again to gently dismantle the garden, demolish the plastic fence, and put the gnomes and butterflies back in the box so they can continue the weird gnome/butterfly fetish party that they throw all winter... every winter. In place of the garden, we're featuring other wines toward which we feel an almost religious devotion - the Piemontese wines of Italy! Funky, pasta-friendly Dolcetto. Easygoing Barbera. Stern, dignified Nebbiolo. Sweet, sexy Moscato... The garden's being dormant doesn't mean our rosé lust has abated one bit. We'll have great selections throughout the year, including a few newcomers that we'll feature during our next Tasty Tuesday, which you can conveniently read about later in this email.

The Wines of
Leo Hillinger

Tasting & mini-class w/ special guest
Michael Höffken
Friday, October 18th @ 7:33 pm
If you've spent much time wandering our isles, you've probably noticed that we're ardent admirers of both Austria's traditional specialties and its bold spirit of adventure. Leo Hillinger's offerings from the country's Burgenland serve as a perfect example of this balance. The estate's Michael Höffken, assistant winemaker and traveling guru of all things Hillinger, will be joining us to share his first-hand knowledge of Burgenland's wines. The event features five wines, catered hors d'oeuvres, and an opportunity to purchase the wines of Hillinger at a bonus discount. Prost!

Tasty Tuesday:
An autumn fling with rosé...
This Tuesday, October 7th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
In honor of the of the Rosé Garden's venture into hibernation, this week's Tasty Tuesday will feature three French pink wines whose flavors go hand-in-hand with fall and the food that accompanies it. More than simple sunny day quaffers, these wines are all about herbaceousness, spice, and complexity. We'll start with a juicy offering from Southwestern France's Fronton, made from the black-skinned Négrette grape. Next, there's a peppery Cabernet Franc from Chinon. Finally, we'll pour a knee-weakeningly delicious (and difficult to find) Sancerre rosé made from Pinot Noir. Join us and celebrate a final pink hurrah (until next year, that is).
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 15%
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Mendocino's
Bliss & Brutocao
This Saturday, we're delving blissfully (not to mention Brutocao-fully) into northern California's Mendocino. Over the past seven decades, the Bliss and Brutocao family estate has blossomed into the source of selections which we find to be not only delicious but among the most classical and sublimely affordable that California currently has to offer. Venture north with us!

Not of the of the oaky or buttery style, this highly drinkable, bright, balanced Chardonnay shows real elegance and...
