Greetings!
Fall is Tentatively Upon Us
The weather is still riotously sunny and warm, porches and parks remain inviting, and the pleasures of crisp white wines and luscious rosés are as captivating as ever. But still...fall is in the air. It's marked by a certain clarity of sunlight, a tinge of crimson on the leaves, and a distinct lack of soaked Rorschach patterns across our Wine Authorities t-shirts (still on sale for $12.99, by the way). Expect some seasonally appropriate changes around here in the coming weeks. The Rosé Garden has recently welcomed two spectacular late-bloomers while clearly attaining a sort of dignified end-of-summer majesty, but soon it will have to make way for wines that go better with woodsmoke and cold nights...and certain important holiday meals that are right around the corner. For now, however, keep soaking up rays and drinking the pink! We've got wines for all seasons, after all, and for the various moments in between.
Hot off the heels of the recent celebration of our sixth birthday, we couldn't be more excited to fill you in on the status of our impending second location in Raleigh! Our original Durham store will remain unchanged and occupied by the same staff that you've come to know and trust. In mere weeks (let's say 6 to 8, fingers and toes crossed), our Capital City home at 211 E Franklin Street in the Person Street Plaza will open its doors and welcome friends new and old to a space which will be familiar to anyone who knows Wine Authorities but with a few exciting new tricks up its sleeves (more details to follow soon)!

Tasty Tuesday:
That's just how we (Sé)roll...
This Tuesday, October 1st, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
The Cote Roannaise is an off-the-beaten-path pocket of the Loire Valley renowned for two things: the delicious, expensive meat of the Charolais cow and Gamay plantings that rival Beaujolais in age and quality. Domaine Robert Sérol sits right in the middle of this fortuitous area. In the capable second generation hands of son Stéphane, it has become one of the top Gamay specialists in the Loire Valley. Its output is a beloved feature at the 3 Michelin Star restaurant Troisgros in nearby Roanne, celebrated for 40 years as one of the best restaurants in town ("town" in this case meaning "The World"). On Tuesday, we'll taste the brand new vintage of the estate's crisp rosé and two outstanding reds, so (Sé)roll on up to the bar and join us!
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 15%
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting
We're thrilled to report that currently in stock is a rather spectacular lineup of brand new Burgundies which are also exceptional values. The birthplace of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is often celebrated for its greatness but seldom for its affordability. Our tasting this Saturday afternoon aims to change all that with a line up of four fantastic selections including not only classic representations of the region's dynamic duo (Pinot and Chard) but the illusive Aligoté grape as well - all clocking in at oh, so obtainable prices!

LIGHT LEMONY CITRUS, WISPY FLORAL PERFUME, CHALKY MINERAL Born in the vineyards of the Cote Chalonnaise's Montagny appellation, a mere half-hour south of the Aligoté grape's zenith zone of Bouzeron, this gorgeously restrained white is a Burgundian niche classic. Equally appealing as carefree aperitif or intellectual...
