This Saturday, the hills are alive in Campania!
In This Issue:
- Tasty Tuesday: Go all the way with Beaujolais!
- Saturday's Tasting: The majestic hills of Campania
Greetings! top

Head for the Hills!
Beaujolais Hills
Our next two tastings are both punctuated by lovely wines which are brand new to the store and hail from picturesque, undulating landscapes in Italy and France.  First, this Saturday features Campania, the site of ancient Rome's favorite wines and some of today's most unique Italian gems.  Then, next Tuesday, join us as we go for a stroll through the beautiful vineyards of Beaujolais for a taste of our newest rosé arrival and a pair of sublimely August-friendly reds!

Rosé Limerick Contest!
Rosé Limerick Contest
It's time once again to get creative* and express your passion, joy, love, and desire for dry pink wines through the always eloquent, heartfelt, and touching... limerick!
From Wikipedia: A limerick is a five-line poem in anapestic or amphibrachic meter with a strict rhyme scheme (aabba), which intends to be witty or humorous, and is sometimes obscene with humorous intent.
The following example of a limerick is of unknown origin:

The limerick packs laughs anatomical
In space that is quite economical,
But the good ones I've seen
So seldom are clean,
And the clean ones so seldom are comical.

* Needless to say, we recommend a glass of wine... or two... to help you gear up (or down?) for waxing limericktic.

For the Vacation Pack!
Vacation Box
For many of us, this stretch of summer is prime vacation time.  We flock to the beach to soak up the sun and bathe in the Atlantic breeze or we head for the mountains to escape the insistent midsummer heat.  Either way, we want our excursions to be special and filled with wonderful, memorable things.  Unfortunately, most of our favorite nearby travel destinations are sorely lacking in places to buy good wine.  Well, we've put together an assortment of some of our favorite vacation wines, tailored to the season and to our beautifully varied NC landscape - each at home on the beach or mountain cabin porch.  So, as you pack for your vacation, don't forget our essential vacation pack!

Campania
.
Irpinia
The hills of Campania have long been associated with vine-friendliness and wine-wonderfulness, providing ancient Rome with the wines most prized by aristocracy and the average Joe (or average Giuseppe?) alike. The region, today, continues to produce some of Italy's most interesting wines, remaining less famous than the center's Tuscany or the north's Piemonte but a plentiful home to excellent grapes and exceptional volcanic terroir.  Join us this Saturday as we taste four of our favorite selections from southern Italy's shin guard-shaped paradise of the vine - three of which have never before been featured at one of our tastings.  Bellissimo!
