Greetings!
It's getting really French in here...
We have a legion of exciting new arrivals from the land of the rising baguette, and we can't wait to share them with you. The Southern Rhone is especially plump at the shop at the moment, and we'll be pouring three of these brand new (and exclusive) wines at next week's Tasty Tuesday. In other Francocentric news, we've just bundled together two fabulous mixed Bordeaux 6-pack specials!
Take Your Pick of these 6-packs:
"Graves-Box: Chateau Lusseau"
In typical Wine Authorities fashion, we've concocted two crazy great 6-pack sets of of Bordeaux, each showcasing some of our very favorite selections. One is an assortment of Saint-Émilion from the illustrious 2009 vintage. It contains three wines (two bottles each) which showcase the region's and vintage's strengths. Another box focuses on the recent return of a producer that has long been dear to our hearts, Chateau Lusseau, hailing from the southern stretch of the Left Bank, Graves. This set includes the chateau's two red cuvées (three bottles of each). You can enjoy them all in the immediate future or ration them out over the course of the next few years and watch (or taste) them evolve. Enjoy! The Rosé Garden has arrived, and speaking of fresh, we're kicking off the garden this year with selections that include a couple of brand new, never-before-in-the-US, Wine Authorities exclusives - a tangy Garnacha rosado from the grape's birthplace in Spain and a most juicy Mediterranean thirst quencher (watch out!) made entirely from Cinsault. As always, a portion of each and ever bottle of rosé sold will be donated to the fight against breast cancer.
¡Hay Txakolina!
It's TxakoliFest!
Saturday, June 1st
It's the one day of the year that Durham breaks out its secret stash of porrons and is transformed into an unlikely sister city to San Sebastián complete with spritzy Basque wine, oysters, and pintxos (tapas.) This is one of the greatest celebrations in town, and it's become the largest festival of Txakoli in the United States.
You may think that you know TxakoliFest, but you've never seen it quite like this. As usual, Durham's Basque transformation is scheduled to take place in two fabulous "sessions," but this year the first session is a tasting and food extravaganza which is also a fundraiser for the Housing for New Hope charity. The second session is an all out party where all wine and food is available for separate purchase. Get your tickets for either session via Six Plates or Wine Authorities.
Join the festivities and experience at least seven unique Txakolis available by the glass (the glass, itself, is a Basque souvenir that you'll take home with you), fantastic food, and live music from Andrew Kasab and Newkirk!

This Tuesday, May 21th, we present our FREE mid-week wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
We're currently up to our necks in the delicious and diverse wines of the Southern Rhone and Languedoc! Join us at our next Tasty Tuesday as we present three of these brand new and exclusive selections. We'll begin with one of the newest rosés to join the ranks of our elite fleet of pink. It's from just south of the Rhone Valley and vinified entirely from Cinsault, a grape responsible for some of the best rosés Southern France has to offer. Next, we'll sample one of the three delicious (and totally new) Viognier-based blends that we're currently stocking from the Southern Rhone. Our grand finale this week comes in the form of an exquisite red hailing from one of the best corners of the Rhone-Villages region, Cairanne. Vive le Méridional!
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 20%
After you taste, put together 12 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 20% off!
