This Tuesday, April 30th, we present our mid-week FREE wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
Next Tuesday, we bid farewell to April and welcome May, and how better than with a trio of shimmering not-quite-bubblies that are perfect for the proverbial patio?       We'll begin with a prime example of what has become one of Durham's best loved wine imports, Txakoli!  Next, we'll venture to Penedès for another spritzy Iberian delight - a dry, fresh, and floral Muscat-based blend. Finally, we'll embrace our collective sweet tooth with a most amiable semi-sweet Lambrusco.  Let's meet the heat with that always welcome oasis in a bottle that is fun and fizzy wine!
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 20%
After you taste, put together 12 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 20% off!

Going Native:
Indigenous Grape Varietals

There's much confusion as to the origins of some of the world's best loved grapes.  To make matters worse, plenty of stories get passed around, mutated, and mistaken for fact.  Case in point:  Syrah, a varietal whose legends would have us believe that it was brought by crusaders, monks, or even Phoenicians  from Persia to the Northern Rhone.  Some British voices went so far as suggesting in the 1830s that its name was a French corruption of the Persian city, Shiraz, and that the grape should be renamed.  Whew, good thing no one bought into that (we're looking at you, Australia)... Studies of the grape's DNA have more recently taught us that Syrah was actually born along the banks of the Northern Rhone more than eight hundred years ago and that both its parents, too, were indigenous French varietals.  Well, now that we have Syrah's background check out of the way, we're ready to share with you four other grapes whose identities have proven similarly confounding.  Join us this Saturday to find out more and, as always, taste delicious wine!
