Greetings!
Tonight!
Castello di Verduno
Special Free Thursday Tasting!

Hosted by the estate's
Marcella Bianco & Mario Andrion
The Piemonte's Castello di Verduno is a small family estate with picturesque vineyards in both Barolo and Alba. Tonight, we welcome young Marcella (pictured in the family portrait above on the left) and Mario Andrion, the estate's enologist & winemaker, as they pour five of the castello's fabulous wines from 5:00 to 7:00 during a special free Thursday tasting! In the four years that we've carried the estate's wines, we've often noted that each and every offering we taste from them is stellar, and here we have a great opportunity to sample five of these gems all at once!

Enjoy Small!
With Small Vineyards
at a special free tasting next Thursday (March 14th) 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Good things don't always come in small packages, but the most special wines do come, without exception, from small producers. Join our guest pourer, Jody Allen of the specialist importer Small Vineyards, as he offers samples of five great wines from his Italian portfolio. The core philosophy of Small Vineyards is one after our own hearts. They specialize exclusively in producers who are among the 10% smallest of their respective Italian and Spanish regions, growing all of their own grapes.

Voyage à Languedoc
With very special guest, Franck Agostini!
This Tuesday, March 12th, we present our mid-week FREE wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
Next week, we welcome Franck Agostini as he takes us on a special Tasty Tuesday tour through a couple of the Languedoc's very brightest points. Mas Bruguiere and Abbaye Sylva Plana, two of the many stellar producers in his portfolio, have been among our favorites for years, and we've just received several brand new selections from both. Join us on Tuesday and prepare to be wowed by all six!
And don't forget:

A Timeless Rivalry
This Saturday, inspired in part by an infamous crosstown basketball rivalry, we'll take a good look at one of the wine world's most timeless (not to mention tastiest) pair of arch nemeses. Why is it that as soon as we've recognized that two entities are exceptionally good at something, we set about straight away trying to determine which is better? Thankfully for us, neither Bordeaux nor Burgundy will ever truly be crowned champion in their tireless battle for the hearts and palates of wine lovers the world over. In fact, in this competition, it's the drinker/taster who wins every time. So, as tempted as you might be to pick sides, take the wiser route of sitting back and enjoying the epic clash between Burgundy and Bordeaux this Saturday afternoon. Game on!
(WEEKLY WINE™ $12 to $19.99)
Domaine des Gandines
Macon-Peronne 2011
{organic} 100% Chardonnay
(Burgundy, France)
FULL & FLAVORFUL, LEMON, HAZELNUT, CARAMEL. SERIOUS! Gandines really surprised us with this compelling, and serious White Burgundy. Fully ripe and lush, but with juicy acidity and complex minerality. This kind of power usually comes from the big boys north of the Macon in the Cotes de Beaune. Aged in enormous 3000 liter...

(MONTHLY WINE™ $20-$49.99)
Chateau L'Hoste
Entre Deux Mers 2010 Vieilles Vignes 60% Semillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc & Gris (Bordeaux, France)
JUICY TANGELO, EXOTICALLY HERBACEOUS, TOASTY OAKEN SPICE At a time when Sauvignon Blanc's dominance in the dry whites of Bordeaux may have reached an all-time high, this decidedly Semillon-centric blend is a welcome breath of fresh, orange citrus-perfumed air. With reminiscences of ripe tangelo and mandarin, this oak-aged Bordeaux Blanc comes complete with an indulgently toasty...
(MONTHLY WINE™ $20-$49.99)
Eric de Suremain
Rully 1er Cru Rouge 2007 "Preaux" {biodynamic} 100% Pinot Noir (Burgundy, France)
DARK CHERRY, TURNED SOIL, FLOWERS. VERY PRETTY. Although better renowned for its white wines, Rully produces incredible reds in warmer years. Eric works the soil of this single vineyard biodynamically, and you can taste the vibrant life and soul in this wine. This is what fine red Burgundy is about; beautifully elegant...

(MONTHLY WINE™ $20-$49.99)
Clos du Pavillon
Saint Émilion 2009 "La Petite Folie"
{organic} 100% Merlot (Bordeaux, France) REDCURRANT & KIRSCH, HERBAL ELEGANCE, SWEET ESPRESSO Could one wine singlehandedly wash away all of the strange misconceptions about Merlot which have become so mystifyingly fashionable of late? Sure! Many could, but this example of the grape working alone in its Right Bank Bordeaux home turf is especially up to the task. Cheekily taking its name from the...
