Vote for Durham!
The South's Tastiest Town
Southern Living magazine has named Durham one of "The South's Tastiest Towns," which is quite an honor!  However, we suspect that you'll agree that Durham deserves to be named The Tastiest, so it's important that we passionate Durhamites voice our opinions and vote for our fair city.  As always, every vote counts!  You can vote once a day and every day, so put your love of our fantastic town and its cuisine to work and get voting! Voting ends on February 28th.  Click on the badge below to vote and on the "Tastiest Town" banner above for more information.

Tonight!

Our first class of 2013

Vine to Wine

Vine to Wine

This evening, we present our in-depth

introductory wine class.  7:33 pm

Join us for a fun and educational evening of wine which chronicles a vine's bud break in the spring to each of its grape's being lovingly squeezed into the bottles that we hold so dear.  We cover how vines are grown and wine is made as well as how to read a label, how to buy wine, how to store wine, how to drink, er, taste wine... and we'll debunk many wine myths throughout this two hour class.
(includes tasting wines, video presentation, and handouts)

Thursday, January 24th at 7:33 pm

Tasty Tuesday!
California Dreamin'

This Tuesday, January 29th, we present our mid-week FREE wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 7:00, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!
Ancient Peaks
For those of us who are already fed up with winter weather (however inconsistent it might be), the idea of escaping to warmer, more predictable climes may be very appealing.  Fear not!  At this week's Tasty Tuesday, we'll share three delicious wines (from three different corners of exactly such a place) which will have you feeling mild and balmy in no time.  California's Paso Robles, Mendocino, and Sonoma will be represented by mouthwateringly tropical Sauvignon Blanc, serious but affable Merlot, and peppery purple Zinfandel.  These great values are far more affordable and immediately satisfying than a plane ticket or vacation package, so come and taste with us!

And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 20% Mixed Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 12 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 20% off!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM

South African Vineyard This weekend, we're embarking on a jaunt to the southern hemisphere (where, incidentally, people are currently enjoying summer). South Africa has leapt and bounded into the 21st century, developing bold specialties (such as an affinity for Chenin Blanc and a die-hard dedication to the exclusively South African Pinotage).  This brave embrace of the unique has served the nation's wineries well, and this Saturday we'll pay tribute to South Africa's best-known and most-loved phenomena through a sampling of four selections which represent its steadfast traditions and dynamic trends.

Chenin Blanc "Reserve" 2011

100% Chenin Blanc

LIGHT PINEAPPLE, VANILLA, LIQUID MINERAL
Ken Forrester is a pioneer in South African wine making. This wine is the big brother to the popular "daily wine" called "Petit" Chenin. The difference is 9 months of 20% new French oak barrel aging, yet the wine is not oaky tasting. Aging sur lie means the wine shows exceptional depth and...

SUPER EXOTIC, FLORAL, SPICY, OFF-DRY AND RICH
A grape variety from the super-obscure category: Bukettraube! This grape is planted in miniscule amounts in France, Germany and South Africa, and the wine tastes like Chenin Blanc meets Sauvignon Blanc meets Riesling and Muscat. Big and friendly, spicy and...

BOLD WITH PINK PEPPERCORN, CHERRY, RASPBERRY, ASH
Legendary South African winery Kanonkop is now in their fourth generation of family winemaking. The canon is a reference to the "alarm" sounded to alert local farmers when a ship had landed at the harbor. This Kadette is produced from a blend of older vine fruit with Pinotage at the...
