- Saturday's Tasting: "Tempered by the Fruit of Another"

top Greetings!

Special Guest:
Eric Asimov!
Asimov & Book
This Saturday (December 15th), from 1:00 to 3:00, we'll be joined in store by none other than Eric Asimov, New York Times wine journalist and impassioned author of the critically acclaimed (and beautifully titled) book, "How to Love Wine," which he'll be signing as we present our free weekly Saturday tasting!  Eric's philosophy is one that resonates powerfully with us.  He advocates loving wine and enjoying it as opposed to collecting, rating, and status-symbolizing it.  Stop by the event page that Eric has created on Facebook for the option to RSVP!

Also Featuring Porchetta!
Porchetta Saturday!
From 12:00 to 4:00, we'll be joined in our parking lot by the masterful porkmeisters of Porchetta.  If you think that their famously ornate truck is colorful, just wait until you taste their cooking.  Saddle up to the window and order from their fantastic regular menu

Cheese for Dessert!
Rush Creek!
When it comes to seasonal cheese, Uplands Cheese Company in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, makes two of the finest examples, Pleasant Ridge Reserve and Rush Creek Reserve. Uplands is a farmstead dairy, meaning they make their cheeses with milk only from their own cows. Sounds familiar, huh? Estate wines, farmstead cheese. Andy Hatch makes excellent use of the richer autumn and winter's milk in the "Rush Creek Reserve," which he models after the legendary Vacherin Mont d'Or (a cheese that marks the holiday season just as much as mistletoe or eggnog). This is a 12 oz washed rind wheel wrapped in spruce bark that oozes with sweet, woodsy goodness - the kind of cheese you eat with a spoon! An exceptionally rare treat, this is perfect for the holidays!
  • Very limited availability
  • $26.99/wheel

Holiday Tasting Part 1:
"Tempered by the Fruit of Another"
.
Fruit Tree What makes a great blend great?  Sometimes, it's the tempering presence of subtler, gentler grapes to add finesse and encourage subtlety to a wine dominated by a particularly muscular varietal.  This Saturday, we'll showcase four examples of this important, tried-and-true phenomenon straight from this year's top holiday picks.  Last but certainly not least, Eric Asimov (author, New York Times wine journalist, and tireless champion of sincere wine enjoyment) will be joining us from one to three for a special signing of his new book, "How to Love Wine."
