City of Vancouver Approves Host City Pride House mission to Sochi 2014

Just this week local LGBT activists, Ken Coolen (GayWhistler), Chris Morrissey (Rainbow Refugee), Dean Malone (Fillmore Family Foundation), and Dean Nelson (GayWhistler) spoke at the City of Vancouver Council meeting to support a motion before the city councillors. The Host City Pride House mission will send official city representatives to Sochi during the Olympic Winter Games, to meet with the IOC and urge them to add "sexual orientation" to their non-discrimination clause and include Pride House as a essential part of future host city agreements.

Canadian History was made when the council voted unanimously in favor of the motion, which enables Councilor Tim Stevenson to go to Sochi as an official representative of Vancouver and speak with the International Olympic Committee on defending LGBT Human Rights and ensure LGBT inclusion in all aspects of the Olympic movement. This year the final closing party of the week will feature the incredible DJ Ivan Gomez from Barcelona bringing his hot European beats to the West Coast of Canada!
