Classes for Adults 9:45 - 10:45 am
Letters of Love and Longing
This class is a journey into a historical, literary, and theological study of the epistolary literature in the New Testament. Dr. Spencer will employ six Biblical passages and other readings that will serve to flesh out a core tenet of Paul's theology.
Belief in a Secular Age
From what we hear in the news, the lines seem to be drawn between fundamentalist interpretation of scripture and those who dismiss the Christian tradition altogether. However, there are a wealth of modern theologians who thoughtfully engage both Christian and modern thought. The class will have brief readings from some of the most influential theologians and thinkers of the past two centuries
Raising Children in Faith in a Secular World
What are the challenges to raising our children in faith? How do the expectations of our culture and friends affect us? How do we fit learning about God and Jesus into our busy schedules? This week our new Director of Christian Education, Mary Park, will be our guide. Using film clips, presentation and discussion, we will explore this topic together.

If you have already turned in your pledge, please place the yellow card (provided in the pews) in the offering basket. You can also pledge online.

Please Support the Fall Food Drive
|

Through November 29
At this time of year, when we give thanks for our many blessings, First Pres Preschool is sponsoring a church-wide food drive for those who are less fortunate. Nearly 51,000 children in Central Virginia don't know where their next meal is coming from. Our food drive will help FeedMore reach out to children, families and seniors who don't have enough to eat.
Bags are available to take home and fill them with food. Containers for your donations will be placed in the hallways.
FeedMore's most needed items are:
- peanut butter
- canned tuna and chicken
- low sodium veggies
- fruits packed in juice
- spaghetti sauce (no glass, please)
- canned or dry beans
- hot and cold cereal
- whole grain snacks

'Tis the Season . . . For The Giving Tree
|
November 15 - December 6
Please support the Presbyterian Women's Giving Tree and help to bring the spirit of Christmas to others in our community! Visit the Giving Tree in the Commons next Sunday and choose one or more ornaments. Purchase the item described, attach your ornament (this is very important!), place the unwrapped gift in a bag and put it under the tree.
Through your generosity, the following organizations will benefit: George Mason Elementary; HomeAgain; and Virginia Treatment Center for Children.

Make a Family's Christmas a Little Happier!
|
Would you like to spread holiday cheer to a needy Richmond family this year? Through FPC's partnership with George Mason Elementary School and Richmond Department of Social Services, you can reach out individually or partner with a Sunday school class, other church group or friends, to provide a few gifts for those who have little.
PW Circle 4 is looking for a gently used sofa for their Christmas family. If you have one, contact Adele Topham, 272-7319, or Jane Peters, 358-5182.
