Veterans Day Service At this time of year, as we pause to consider the service and sacrifice of America's veterans, we are reminded that our freedom is not free, but has only been secured at great price. As we thank our veterans, both past and present, we hope that you will join us for this special worship service honoring them. Members of our congregation who are veterans of military service will assist in conducting the service. Retired Brigadier General Jack Mountcastle will deliver the meditation. We will have special music and Communion will be served. Invite your neighbors, friends and family to join us.

Stewardship 2016: The Grace of Giving
|
Give, and it will be given to you . . . for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.
Luke 6:38
Pledge cards have been sent in the mail and are also available in the pews. Please prayerfully consider your gift to the ministry of Christ in and through First Presbyterian Church. You may place your card in the offering plate, or send it to the church office. You can also pledge online.
Commitment Sunday is next Sunday, November 15. Please bring your pledge card to worship on that day if you have not sent it in before. Many of our small groups have already reached well over 50% participation - check out the chart in the Memorial Corridor to see how we're doing!

Please Support the Preschool Fall Food Drive
|

At this time of year, when we give thanks for our many blessings, the preschool is having a food drive for those less fortunate. Nearly 51,000 children in Central Virginia don't know where their next meal is coming from. Our food drive will help FeedMore reach out to children, families and seniors who don't have enough to eat.
Bags are being sent home. Please fill them with food and return before December 1. Containers for your donations will be placed in the preschool hallways.
FeedMore's most needed items are:
- peanut butter
- canned tuna and chicken
- low sodium veggies
- fruits packed in juice
- spaghetti sauce (no glass, please)
- canned or dry beans
- hot and cold cereal
- whole grain snacks

'Tis the Season . . . For The Giving Tree
|
November 15 - December 6
Please support the Presbyterian Women's Giving Tree and help to bring the spirit of Christmas to others in our community! Visit the Giving Tree in the Commons next Sunday and choose one or more ornaments. Purchase the item described, attach your ornament (this is very important!), place the unwrapped gift in a bag and put it under the tree.
Through your generosity, the following organizations will benefit: George Mason Elementary; HomeAgain; and Virginia Treatment Center for Children.
