On-site registration begins at 3:15 pm. The walk begins at 3:30 pm
The Walk for Water is a 3.7-mile round trip, which is the distance that many people in developing countries must walk each day for water for their families. FPC's Clean Water Ministry helps communities in Nicaragua and Haiti to build and maintain clean water systems.
If you cannot walk this Sunday, please consider giving making a donation online. Suggested donation: $20 a person, $40 per family. Checks may be made payable to First Presbyterian and noted "Walk for Water."

Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, FPC's blood drive in honor of Joan Trotti collected nearly 30 units of blood--enough to help over 80 people!
Our cookie collection for Kairos prison ministry topped our goal of 150 dozen with over 180 dozen baked! Also, our children and youth created some wonderfully cheerful placemats.
Thank you, FPC, for touching many lives this week.

First Presbyterian is happy to welcome our new Director of Christian Education, Mary Park. Mary is very committed to a family-based approach to Christian education and spiritual formation and brings great enthusiasm and commitment to the ministry with Christ's people.
Mary and her husband, Robert, have three sons, Ethan, 9, Davis, 7, and Colin, 5. For the past seven years, they have been living in Bluefield, West Virginia, though Richmond is familiar as Mary eared her Master of Arts in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary. To learn more about Mary and her family, please click here.
Mary's first Sunday with us will be October 25 and we look forward to welcoming her and her family in to the life of our congregation.

The Officer Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for elders and deacons. You will find nomination forms in the Commons and online here. Please prayerfully consider those whom you would like to suggest as elected leaders of this church.
Elders are charged with the oversight of the life of our congregation. Deacons are charged with the sympathy, witness and service for all our members and the poor. One does not have to serve as a Deacon before serving as an Elder.
Please submit nominations by Sunday, November 1. We encourage you to nominate yourself if you feel called to serve. For more information, please contact committee chair Lisa Kunz.

Stewardship 2016: The Grace of Giving
|
Our stewardship theme this year is "The Grace of Giving." We invite you to reflect on Luke 6:38, which reminds us: "Give, and it will be given to you...for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."
You should have received a pledge card in the mail. There are also cards in the pews. Please prayerfully consider your gift to the ministry of Christ in and through FPC. You can pledge online or you may place your pledge card in the offering plate or mail it to the church office, 4602 Cary Street Road, Richmond, Virginia 23226.

November 1
On Sunday, November 1, our services of worship will be of special thanksgiving as we remember the saints who have gone before us. On this day, we will lift up in thanksgiving those of the faith, members of our congregation, who have died since this time last year. A roll of these members will be read aloud during services. We hope you will be able to share in our thanksgiving and memorial service.
At our 11:00 Service, our chancel choir will present excerpts from Fauré Requiem with Chamber orchestra including harp. This requiem is a larger musical work written to commemorate life on earth.
We have invited the families of our church members who died this year to join us in worship and receive a white rose in memory of their loved one. Prayers of peace for all who grieve this day.
