Happy Chanukah!
Cedar Village E-News
December 14, 2012

Greetings!

We have had a wonderful Chanukah here at Cedar Village, hope yours has been great as well! We made latkes together on Monday and we've sampled lots of different kinds of latkes as our Dining Services folks have been creative with their selections! Some of our "different" latkes included asparagus-filled and apple served with caramel sauce. We also had a number of community rabbis come in to light candles with us and that was, as always, wonderful. Some led songs, others did trivia games and led reminiscence sessions. It was a pleasure for one and all!

On Monday, our Chesed volunteers (that's our core of resident volunteers) did an outreach project at the Talbert House. We spent the morning assisting some of their clients with a holiday craft project that was actually designed by one of our residents! They made beautiful holiday cards and had wonderful conversations. We received a wonderful thank you note from the Talbert House, specifically expressing appreciation for how open and warm our volunteers were with their clients and hoping that we will have more opportunities to join for programming, both there and here at Cedar Village.

One of our favorite things is hearing the Cedar Village bell choir perform. This week we heard both the bell choir and the Cedar Village choir do their Chanukah concert. It was beautiful, inspiring and such a wonderful event for us all to share.

Thursday's highlight was our employee holiday celebration. It's a way to thank the very special and dedicated folks who work at Cedar Village and we had a great time, both during the day and from 1 to 3 on Friday morning!

We are very excited that we've begun construction on our new satellite rehab center that will be located at the Mayerson JCC. We'll have physical therapy available for folks of all ages and think this will be a wonderful extension of services. We're delighted to be partnering with the JCC and are grateful for the support of The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, whose generous support has helped to make it possible. We'll share more details as our opening date approaches!

We're about to send out our annual satisfaction survey for residents and families. Please watch for it, if you are in one of those categories, and send it in. We value your opinion and want to hear your thoughts.

All the best,
