Greetings!
Is it possible that Chanukah is only a little more than a week away? If you have not celebrated Chanukah with us at Cedar Village, then you have missed something special. The good news-you can join us this year! On Sunday December 9, at 2 p.m. we will hold our annual Chanukah party in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center. It is always a delightful event, complete with music and wonderful refreshments. We conclude that program by lighting Chanukah candles together as a community. Each night of Chanukah, we light candles on the 2nd and 3rd floors in the Health Care Center and in the Garden Dining Room. Community rabbis join us for each of these candle lighting events and each one does something different-some sing, others tell stories, still others engage the residents in sharing holiday reminiscences. We would love to have you join us! We celebrated Israel @65 this week, the beginning of a number of special events, both here and in the community. On Tuesday, we had an afternoon of Israeli music and treats, which was both fun and inspirational. On Thursday evening, a number of our folks were able to attend the first community-wide event and they loved being at the Mayerson JCC, hearing music, sharing stories and watching a re-enactment of that very important vote establishing the State of Israel. We also had a group of residents that attended Jersey Boys at the Aronoff Theatre this week. Made possible by the support of our Harkavy and Berg funds, residents were able to enjoy the show and the foot tapping, finger snapping music. We are so fortunate to be able to take residents to all kinds of community events-from theatre to ballet, from opera and symphony to Reds baseball-at no charge. It enriches their lives and makes it possible to do things that they so enjoy and might otherwise not be able to do. If this is something that touches your heart, just want you to know that we are always delighted to receive gifts for these funds and you can even do so on our web page, www.cedarvillage.org or by clicking here. Don't forget that Battle of the Bands is THIS Sunday night at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley. You don't want to miss it! It's an evening of music, good food and great fun. Hope to see you there! All the best, Carol Silver Elliott CEO/President
