Senior Art Show Features Talent & Technique

The portfolios of Pacific Ridge's graduating visual artists were celebrated on Thursday, May 14th, with a reception and exhibit in the Arts & Technology Center. Families and friends viewed the artwork and discussed its inspiration and creation with each of the artists. "This year's senior art show was a resounding success," said photography teacher Alison Behr. "Our visual and digital arts programs continue to thrive, and it was nice to celebrate with an event that featured more senior artists than ever before, a brand new venue, and an impressive turnout. We hope these seniors continue their excellent creative work in college and beyond."

Senior visual art added an explosion of color and forms to the Arts & Technology Center's walls.

This talented, hard working group of senior artists impressed with their creativity and technique!

Whimsical pottery and other 3D creations were part of the exhibit.

Acting Classes Take Final Bow of Academic Year

Theater Students performed for parents and guests as a finale in all three Upper School theater classes. In Intro and Honors Theater, audiences experienced some of the traditional scenes that have served as rites of passage over the last few years: Shakespeare monologues, The Misanthrope, Our Town, Fences, Proof, and 4000 Miles. In Advanced Theater Arts and Directing, students created original performances based on a play called Phillip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread, a piece akin to spoken word opera. Students wrote, arranged, designed, publicized and performed their pieces based on a directorial concept. The results, carefully wrought and colorful, exceeded all expectations.

Middle School Students Chill Out At IceTown
Last Thursday and Friday, Middle School Physical Education classes traveled to IceTown for an afternoon of skating. The joint celebration between Middle School Student Council and Athletics was a fun way for students to unwind and enjoy one another's company as the school year comes to an end. For some students, the field trip marked their first time on a pair of ice skates, while others showed off their skating skills with speed and spins. The day was filled with smiles, spills, and everything in between.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse Wins CIF Championship!

Congratulations to the Pacific Ridge Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, who beat Ramona High School 8-7 on Saturday to capture the CIF Division II Championship title! The girls won the championship, the first in team history, in thrilling fashion. After falling behind 6-3 early in the second half, the fourth-ranked Firebirds chipped away at second-seeded Ramona's lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Maranda Phillips conceded only one point during the Firebird's methodical comeback. With just a minute remaining in regulation, senior Britta Gullahorn scored the equalizer, sending the game into overtime and the hearts of Firebird fans into overdrive. During the first extra period, senior Noelle Reich scored the winning, and only, overtime goal. Rock on, Firebirds!
