Spring Sports Celebration on May 22nd
Families of Upper School spring athletes are invited to the end-of-season Sports Celebration on May 22nd. The event will feature a slide show, awards ceremony and breakout sessions for individual team awards and dessert. The slide show will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will not be served.

Junior Parent Volunteers Needed for Grad Night
Attention Junior parents: It is a tradition that Junior parents handle the volunteer duties at our seniors' Graduation Night celebration. Help is needed on the evening of June 12th. Four volunteers are needed to help check in students from 8:45 to 9:45 p.m., and four parent chaperones are needed from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Please email Lora Abbey if you can help. Please remember, next year's Junior parents will be doing this for your graduates. The Senior Class Graduation Night Celebration Committee thanks you!
Summer Programs and Sports Camps at Pacific Ridge!
From June 23rd to August 1st, Pacific Ridge will be offering a number of summer programs available to all students in San Diego's North County. Choices include both for-credit and non-credit classes for middle and high school students, the Firebird Program for rising 5th through 7th graders, and numerous sports camps. Faculty and Staff Treated to Spring Picnic!
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day was celebrated on Tuesday, May 13th. At lunchtime, the Athletic Center rotunda was transformed into a picnic paradise complete with vibrant table settings, ribbon streamers, fresh flower bouquets and other thoughtful touches, including a repeating photo slideshow of students expressing thanks to their teachers. Pacific Ridge faculty and staff enjoyed a luxurious meal prepared and presented by the Parents Association, and cheered a number of faculty members who won gift cards and cakes in a raffle drawing. Bountiful thanks go to the Parents Association volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the lunch a memorable treat.

Upper School Science Lab Named in Honor of Class of 2014
On Thursday, May 8th, parents of graduating seniors gathered in the East Reading Room for graduation festivities of their own. Parents were celebrated for the many contributions they have made to their children's school experience and to the Pacific Ridge community. Attendees enjoyed a lovely catered dinner, a presentation by Dr. Ogle and a formal graduation ceremony. After the dinner, the Class of 2014 Science Lab was officially named, honoring the families for their 100% participation in the Breaking New Ground campaign.

Upper School Colloquium Highlights Student Work
At Community Life on Wednesday, May 7th, Upper School students and faculty were treated to presentations of exceptional academic work. Students nominated by their teachers spoke about creative projects ranging from statistical analyses of movie-watching habits and original dance choreography to a study of the evolution of portrait styles and a french language commercial for surfboard wax. For their nominations, faculty members selected student work that reflected creativity, strong understanding, thorough execution and exceptional attention to detail.

Arc of San Diego Recognizes Pacific Ridge Volunteerism
The Arc of San Diego, a service provider for local children and adults with disabilities, has selected Pacific Ridge School volunteers to receive its President's Volunteer Service Award for exemplary commitment and dedicated service. Arc has been a longtime community partner for Pacific Ridge's Middle School Service learning program. Students visit the San Marcos facility nearly every week to engage with Arc's clients in craft projects, music performances, games, seasonal activities and more. The award will be given at the Arc of San Diego's Annual Meeting and Installation Ceremony in June.
Middle School Stewardship Keeps Campus Shipshape
The Middle School Stewardship service learning group investigates the impact that people have on the environment and the best ways that we at Pacific Ridge can care for our campus and surroundings. The group's work includes field trips to local water and waste facilities, garden cultivation, recycling and composting, energy and carbon footprint monitoring, and general campus care.

All Pacific Ridge parents are invited to the Parents Association Spring General Meeting! Dr. Ogle and other administrators will report on the parent survey results, give updates on construction progress and discuss current trends in private schools.

Senior Parent Coffee on May 20th
Senior parents are welcome to join the College Guidance staff at the final senior parent coffee of the year.

Camp College for Rising Seniors on May 21st and 22nd
Camp College is a workshop designed to provide Pacific Ridge juniors with the information and materials needed to begin the college application process. Rising seniors will learn the details of UC and Common Application work to begin in summer, build on topics from lunchtime workshops and organize college deadlines. Camp College will reconvene on August 20th - 22nd, when seniors will be joined by college admissions officers, receive input on applications in progress and continue to work on their college lists. Time to get organized!

Transition to College Night for Senior Families on June 9th
Seniors and their parents are invited to campus on Monday evening, June 9th, for an event celebrating the Class of 2014's transition to college. The program bookends parent coffees and senior sessions with practical tips and advice, and gives families an opportunity to be entertained by the Improv Club's treatment of the college experience and to enjoy one another's company before graduation. You won't want to miss it! Grazing food and beverages will be served.
