We're Breaking Through!
Pacific Ridge School is pleased to announce Phase One of the Breaking Through Campaign, a $25 million fundraising effort to support the construction of our new Middle School/Administration building and Arts Center. With the generous support of the Board of Trustees and others in our community, over 80% of funds needed have been raised. We are well on our way, but still need the help and support of our Pacific Ridge families. More information about the campaign will be mailed to families in early March. For details and a sneak peek at the beautiful campus that will await us 12 months from now, please click here.

Kiss Me Kate: It's Wunderbar!!
The Pacific Ridge School community was treated to four outstanding performances of Kiss Me Kate on February 6th - 8th. Shakespeare's classic battle of the sexes, Taming of the Shrew, took on a distinctly modern sensibility in this colorful, witty and exuberant show. The cast and crew's hard work paid off with spirited acting, terrific vocal performances, elegant filmed sequences and sizzling dance numbers. A nimble set crew kept the performance moving on an amazing revolving set, and Cole Porter's score was ably brought to life by student and professional musicians. Heartfelt congratulations and thanks go to Director Alison Trattner, to all students involved in the production, and to the many parents who generously donated their time and energy to help make Pacific Ridge School's 6th annual musical a big success.

Middle School Robotics Excels at First LEGO League Cup
On Saturday, February 15th, Pacific Ridge's Middle School Robotics team earned a Runner Up Champion award at the First LEGO League Cup robotics competition at Legoland. The team placed 2nd out of a field of 61 teams and 500 students from all over southern California. According to team coach Doug Blackington, the team's carefully designed robots performed extremely well, and our students thoroughly impressed the judges with their display of cooperation and graceful professionalism, core values of the First Lego League. Congratulations to the following team members: Adam Bell, Matticus Brown, Howie Li, Derek McInerney, Ethan Printz, Powell Sheagren and Jake Smith.

7th Graders Get Eyewitness View of Justice System
On Wednesday, February 5th, 7th graders visited the Vista Courthouse to observe the justice system at work. Students spoke to Judge K. Michael Kirkman and several prosecutors and public defenders before watching a prospective juror video and visiting courtrooms to observe trials in progress. The courthouse visit touches on students' current reading of To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as their examination of the Civil Rights Movement in Social and Community Studies. Thanks to parents Sherry and Bill Stone for organizing this informative trip.

Designer Burgers? Students "Flip" Over the Concept
On Thursday, February 6th, the Pacific Ridge community was treated to a campus burger barbecue hosted by students in Advanced Topics in Design. The cookout celebrated the class's recent project, for which students created burger restaurants, from concepts and logos, to images of "real" meals and architectural sketch-ups. Faculty members flipped burgers while students perused the designs, voting on their favorite. The results were close, but "Colt Place", designed by Chandler Abbey '14 and Andrew Sinow '15 came out on top.

A mouthwatering design from the winning entry
