Sophomore Spends Semester Studying Marine Biology

Spencer Wollan '16 recently returned to the Pacific Ridge campus after spending a semester immersed in science and leadership studies in coastal Maine. As a student at Coastal Studies For Girls, Spencer took rigorous courses in marine science in addition to traditional high school classes. She was able to work directly with scientists and guest lecturers, while using the Maine landscape as a natural laboratory. The campus, which sits on a 626-acre farm spanning field and forest, also led to unique leadership building activities such as extended backpacking trips.

Students at Coastal Studies for Girls celebrate the sunrise at Casco Bay.
