End-of-Year Ceremony & Eighth Grade Promotion
The last day of school, Tuesday, June 11th, was marked by an important passage and noteworthy awards. 79 eighth graders were promoted to high school, each recognized individually and handed a diploma to mark the transition. During the End-of-Year Awards ceremony, students were acknowledged for a variety of achievements. Students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher were awarded Dean's List certificates, and Mission Awards went to both Middle and Upper School students who strongly demonstrated different aspects of the Pacific Ridge mission statement. National Merit Scholars and Honor Society members were commended among Upper School students, and a number of rising seniors received college book awards sponsored by alumni from colleges and universities around the country. Additionally, three awards - Harkness, Integration and Service to School - honored Seniors who have most embraced the seminar-style approach to learning, effectively integrated topics in their curricular and extra-curricular endeavors, and contributed most positively to the life of the school. Congratulations, award winners and new 9th graders!

Eighth graders celebrate their promotion.

Incoming Student Council President, Louisa Ballif '14, rings the gong marking the official beginning of summer vacation.

"Global Rewind" Highlights Year-End Trips
The morning of June 11th, students and families gathered in the Athletic center for an expo celebrating this year's global travel program. Tables representing each travel destination displayed artifacts collected during the trip, a photographic slideshow and printed quotations excerpted from post-travel surveys in which students reflected on their experiences. Attendees were impressed by the scope of the program and wide variety of trips, as well as the thoughtful discussions they shared with students and faculty chaperones. Thank you to our students and faculty for participating in the travel program, accepting in equal measure the challenges and joys that travel brings, and for embracing the opportunity to learn more about yourselves, others and the world.
