Alumni News

For the second year in a row, Sasha Malmquist '11 spent her college spring vacation on a medical mission to Honduras. Sasha and other University of Arizona students joined American and Honduran doctors in providing medical care to 1,287 patients in two rural communities. The group also dispensed medication to treat sick patients for three months - enough to last until the next scheduled visit by medical teams. According to Sasha, who is a pre-nursing and pre-business major, the reason for her return to the country was the children. "The children seem to place trust in people they barely know, and they showed me that cultural boundaries really can be broken by the simple exchange of a smile and 'hola.'"
