Should You Establish a Service Management Office?

Jayne Groll, ITSM Academy

calendar

As more organizations are formalizing their service management practices, many have considered or are considering the creation of a service management office (SMO). Similar to a project management office, the SMO centralizes the oversight and integration of service management processes to ensure the alignment, effective and efficient outcomes of service delivery and support.

In this session, Jayne Groll will provide a practical overview of the concepts, benefits, opportunities and threats associated with developing a SMO, regardless of an organization's size, industry, or scope. And since a successful SMO is built on roles and responsibilities, Jayne will also share tips for identifying, combining, assigning, and managing key roles.

ITSM Academy Alumni - ITIL Experts in Action

We recently asked a few of our ITIL Expert Alumni some of the benefits of becoming an ITIL Expert, and here is what one had to say:

"As a strong supporter of ITIL since late 2004, achieving ITIL 2011 Expert status has helped me shape, guide and gain an understanding of the importance of the business vice simply being an Information Technologist.  It's not that I advocate more for the business but by better understanding ITIL and our integration and implementation into our day to day business. This also allows me to better balance and understand my mission partners needs as well as helping them better define what their objectives are and being able to support them in an effective and efficient manner." - John R., ITIL Expert

GAME ON! ITSM Academy's Interactive Learning Experience

ITSM Academy, Inc. has announced  the release of our game based learning tool: GAME ON!  An Interactive Learning Experience

"From our earliest days, play is a key aspect of learning.  In fact, learning is the basis of every game - in order to progress, we must obtain knowledge about the system upon which it is built.  Some of our most significant critical thinking, teamwork, strategic and tactical skills are cultivated on the playground, chess board, basketball court, poker table and/or video game console.    Games are fun, improve retention, encourage healthy competition and allow us to be part of the action, instead of passive bystanders,"  said Jayne Groll, Co-Founder and President of ITSM Academy.

Our Instructors ROCK!
The first week of the month was "Teacher Appreciation Week" -- and we appreciate our Instructors and their hard work and dedication to the Academy.  But we are not the only ones! Hear what an ITSM Academy Alumni had to say recently about one of our instructors:

"With all of the ITSM Academy classes I have taken, I'm amazed by the depth and intrinsic knowledge that each instructor has shared!" -- Rick B., Bloomington, IN
