Lao Zi Tai Chi Zhuang
The Doorway to Inner Tranquility

Thanksgiving 2012, during my three day silent retreat...

I realized Lao Zi's Wisdom: The Tai Chi Zhuang can help patients to relieve anxiety. In chapter 26, it is said in Chinese, "Zhong wei qing gen", or, "Heavy on the bottom is the root of the lightness." In the same chapter, it is also said in Chinese, "Jing wei zao jun", or, "Your heart becomes the emperor of the monkey mind."

By continuing to practice daily, you can reach the level of understanding that "Wuwei is wu bu wei", or in English, "Doing nothing is everything."

To gain a better understanding of what this means, we recommend reading Eckhart Tolle's story titled "Is That So?" This practice is simple, but not easy.  We call it "Lao Zi Tai Chi Zhuang."

"Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine" is the most important book of Chinese medicine and a very important book of Taoist practice. In its first chapter, "The Universal Truth", it addresses the dynamic of health and illness with a question:

"Remain detached and empty-minded,
and genuine Chi will flow easily.
Connecting the spirit within, how could illness arise?"

What is Tian Dan Xu Wu literally?

Tian means to enjoy the tea with all your senses, to taste the tea mindfully with your tongue. That is the way of living---enjoy every second of your life mindfully, live at the Now. It is the  philosophy of Lao Zi(Lao Tzu), the founder of Taoism. In chapter 16 of Tao Te Ching, it says "Attain the ultimate emptiness, Hold on to the truest tranquility. Why are modern people so impetuous and anxious? It is not because we have greater competitive pressure but we are incapable of keeping our minds at a tranquil state.

If we live in the realm of Tian every day,
there is no pressure that can affect you!

At this level, illness will still come, but will leave too quietly, as Tao Te Ching said, "Do not interfere the way of natural, everything will take care of itself so there is nothing that needs to be undone." Let everything flow naturally under heaven.

One would say, "Sure, that sounds great! But how can I get there - to the calm and tranquil state of mind? What is the doorway to the inner peace?"

To answer your question, I have developed a very practical routine, "Lao Zi Tai Chi Zhuang", to help you to get there.

How to practice Lao Zi Tai Chi Zhuang:
  • Stand with legs shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent.
  • Curl your tongue up, the tip of your tongue gently touches the palate.
  • Tuck your tail bone in. Center Baihui and Hui Yin to a straight line.
  • Slowly quiet your mind down into the state of Zheng Shuong Jing Kong, the realm of deep relaxation.
I have a video and DVD available to demonstrate Lao Zi Tai Chi Zhuang.
