The University of Scranton, Journal of Clinical Psychology published their
"Top 10 New Years Resolutions of 2014" this week. Sadly, by the end of this month, more than 50% of us will have broken our resolutions.
Why do we fail? I believe the reason most of us fail to follow through is not because the goal is unachievable, but due to a lack of an
organized strategy that will help us succeed.
This leads me to their #2 most stated New Years resolution in 2014 --
GETTING ORGANIZED.
If one of your resolutions this year was to "get better at marketing", I'm jumping up and down for you, really. It's what keeps my phone ringing!
So,
WHAT do you want to do?
"I want to get better at social media."
"I'll start a blog for my website."
"I think I'll add email marketing."
"I'm going to network more."
Here's where STRATEGY comes in . . . .
For example, It's not enough to say you want to get better at social media. Figure out what the stumbling block has been in the past. Does the technology have you stumped? Are you lacking content? Do you need to find the actual time to be social? Would coaching support help? Once you know the answers to these questions, put tools in place to help you stay organized and become successful.
Wonder what the #1 New Years resolution was, according to the U of Scranton's survey?
. . . . Losing weight. We'll save that one for another day.
