It's not about the number of "likes" your business page has collected. It's what you DO with that initial acknowledgment that counts. Engagement happens when someone comments, likes, replies, or shares your content. Want to improve your engagement? Consider these five tips.
1. Stop the hard sell. Pages that primarily promote products and services are missing an opportunity to grow relationships. Keep the 'salesy' talk to under 20%.
2. Encourage conversation. By asking a question, you give your followers a reason to comment. Tell them what you want them to do - 'click like', 'please share', 'tell us what you think'.
3. Add pictures/video. Posts with images are more likely to be read and shared. Skip the stock photography, pull back the curtain and use your own images.
4. Create quality content. What are you trying to do with your page? Educate? Enlighten? Motivate? Without meaningful content, all those "likes" are meaningless as your fans won't come back.
5. Share content. What goes around comes around. Help other businesses and organizations by sharing their posts and mentioning them in your posts. Use your news feed to find content.
