ARPA Supports Pima County Bond Election
The Southern Chapter of ARPA forwarded a recommendation to the ARPA Board of Directors to support the 7 ballot propositions that equate to $815,760,000 in general obligation bonds for Pima County that will be voted on in November. See the bond package.

Seventy-one percent of U.S. residents would support a 10-cent increase in the 18.4 cents-per-gallon gas tax that is used to pay for federal transportation projects, according to a new poll released this week.

Environment - Waters of the U.S. Update
On September 1, 2015 the Arizona Rock Products Association joined the Arizona Mining Association, Arizona Farm Bureau, Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, New Mexico Mining Association, New Mexico Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau in filing a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona challenging the U.S. EPA's new rule dramatically expanding the scope of federal jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act.
A Federal District Court Judge granted a preliminary injunction that blocked the Waters of the United States regulation from taking effect on August 28.
Based on a conference call with Assistant Secretary Joe Main and a visit to the ARPA Safety Committee by Rocky Mountain District Supervisory Richard Laufenberg, ARPA was informed that a fatal reduction initiative has begun due to recent industry fatalities, including three occurring in a single day.
