Good morning,

The CCRPC extends a sincere thank you to all of the Vermont legislators for their hard work and long hours to advance many important initiatives. Some of the key bills that we've been following include: a housing bond that would help address the affordable housing needs of low income Vermonters; funding for water quality investment; a commission to develop improvements to Act 250 and the rest of the State's permitting system; economic development tools such as new tax increment financing (TIF) districts in other parts of the State; and of course, the transportation funding bill. Thank you for your continued efforts to improve the quality of life for Vermonters.

Also, June 21st is the CCRPC's Annual Meeting at the Catamount Country Club in Williston. This special event is an opportunity for Elected Officials, Board members, staff, partners and others to reflect on the impact of our work over the past year, and to set the tone for next year's projects on behalf of our member municipalities, residents, employers, and visitors. Click here to register or for more information.

Best Regards,

Charlie Baker
Executive Director, CCRPC

Free Bike Racks for Circ Communities
Thanks to a special, one-time funding source, Local Motion is offering free bike racks to businesses, schools, and other organizations in Colchester, Essex, Essex Junction, and Williston. They have approximately 75 Dero Hoop Racks to extend to the community (2 max/organization). Each rack is constructed of thick metal pipes and provides high security parking for two bikes. What's the catch? In order to receive racks, you'll work with Local Motion to offer two or more FREE bike skills workshops through your organization. They'll deliver the racks in summer 2017 and hold the workshops around your schedule. For more information contact Local Motion.
CarShare Vermont Partners with AARP to Get More Seniors Sharing
As they age, more and more Vermonters in Chittenden County are letting go of their cars in favor of public transit, walking, and biking. At the same time many retirees are downsizing and moving to urban settings where they rarely need a car. To support and encourage this lifestyle shift, AARP and CarShare Vermont are partnering to waive application fees for new members. Learn More »

VTrans Announces its Bike/Ped Grant Program
The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) has issued its annual solicitation for new bicycle and pedestrian projects. The intent of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is to improve access and safety for bicyclists and/or pedestrians through the planning, design and construction of infrastructure projects. Typical projects include sidewalks, shared use paths, crossing improvements and bike lanes. Last year nearly $4 million in projects throughout the state were initiated under this grant program. For a copy of the VTrans 2017 Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Guide and Application and other supporting materials, visit the VTrans Bicycle and Pedestrian program website. Applications must be received by 1PM, Friday July 14, 2017.
Go! Vermont Community-Based Grants
Vermont-based communities are eligible to receive $500 in general operating support for promoting the Go! Vermont program of the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Vermont communities chosen for this round of Smart Commute will promote Go! Vermont as part of the Smart Commute program and thus be automatically eligible for the Go! Vermont small grant. While there is no match requirement, this is federal funding passed through the State and cannot be used as match for federal dollars. Learn more about Go! Vermont.
Operation Safety Corridor: I-89 Exits 12 to 17
VTrans is establishing interstate Safety Corridors throughout Vermont where a combination of high traffic volume, high speeds and a high rate of crashes demands an increased level of enforcement. These areas are where Vermont drivers are most at risk. In our region, the Safety Corridor includes I-89 exits 12 to 17. The focus is to reduce speeding, distracted, aggressive and impaired driving, and to increase seat belt use. The hope is to reduce the number of crashes and tickets issued through increased police presence. Operation Safety Corridor will include the efforts of the Vermont State Police, Department of Motor Vehicles, and local law enforcement agencies. Learn more here or contact  Bruce Nyquist, Director of the Office of Highway Safety.
