Good morning,
It's hard to believe we're nearing the end of 2016! As we gear up for a new year, we're working closely with our municipalities to prepare for the high priority issues that lie ahead.
On December 13th, we held our third municipal legislative breakfast to serve as a forum for Chittenden County municipal representatives and legislators to connect on a few key topics for the upcoming legislative session. This event was well attended and yielded some great discussion.
To recap, the meeting was framed around three primary topics: Water Quality, Regional Dispatch, and the Chittenden County Economy. [View the full agenda and program here.] Following an overview of each topic, the discussion focused on what can be done at the municipal, regional, and State level to make improvements to our systems and help us gain forward momentum.
With the start of a new year, we will work together to build upon our collective successes and stand ready to address different challenges, as well as exciting opportunities. And as we look toward 2017 and reflect on the many ways we all work collectively to improve our communities, we'd like to thank each of you for staying in touch and involved with the CCRPC throughout the year.
Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season from all of us at the CCRPC! |

Opportunity to Increase Resolution of Aerial Imagery & More
Aerial photography (imagery) is an important tool for a variety of municipal uses. Planning, public works, fire & safety, assessing, stormwater management and other aspects of local government benefit when current imagery is available with adequate resolution to identify features on the ground. A new round of imagery is expected to be acquired in the spring of 2018 (a small portion of Huntington will be flown in 2017) for Chittenden County.
Once again, the VT Center for Geographic Information (VCGI) is offering a buy-up program. In 2013, Chittenden County municipalities participated in a buy-up to acquire 15-cm per pixel imagery. We currently have 2004 imagery for most of Chittenden County at this resolution as well as the complete county in 2013. CCRPC would like to continue to acquire imagery at 15-cm, because this higher-level resolution provides a much clearer image of buildings and structures.

Regional Dispatch Study Update
The regional dispatch implementation study continues to move forward. A 'roadmap workshop' was held on November 30 with our consultants from Deltawrx and a wide array of municipal representatives to review progress to date, test assumptions, and work toward consensus on ideas and concepts. A governance subcommittee continues to review and refine an approach to what form of management structure might work best. We anticipate that a final report and set of recommendations will be completed by the end of January, 2017. For more information, visit the project website.

Chittenden County Opioid Alliance - December Update
The CCOA has seen continuous and growing cross-sector participation among our four Action Teams whose work is strategically focused on 4 areas of the opioid crisis: workforce development, treatment access and recovery supports, prevention and the City of Burlington's police response, CommStat. In the coming months, we will begin our community outreach and engagement phase to learn, build partnerships, and engage the Chittenden County community in conversations around the opioid crisis. True system change occurs when the community is authentically involved in the change process. We have also hired an intern to oversee the GE Healthiest Communities grant we received to work with local companies to help facilitate best hiring practices and employment supports for community members in recovery.
