United Way Volunteer Opportunities: Summer 2016

Looking for ways to volunteer this summer? Check out short-term and special event volunteer opportunities with the United Way for the coming months.

Volunteer with Neighbor Rides

Neighbor Rides is a strategic initiative of United Way of Northwest Vermont supported by a dynamic group of community partners that brings people and places together to help meet the transportation needs of seniors and persons with disabilities. This partnership uses volunteer drivers to leverage government and community-funded transportation programs and help more people by decreasing the cost per ride.

Good afternoon,

As summer winds down, I'd like to wish everyone a great remainder of the season. It's back-to-school and back-to-work time, and the cool mornings we've been waking up to indicate that fall is just around the corner. At the RPC, the fall season brings a number of new projects and a renewed collaboration with our municipalities and partners to propel us into another year of working toward a healthy, inclusive and prosperous community.

Enjoy the next few weeks!

Best regards,

Charlie Baker
Executive Director

It's Go Time!
The 2016 Way to Go! Challenge takes place from September 26th - October 7th. Simply walk, run, bike, bus, carpool or telecommute on as many days as you can during the two-week event. When you sign up, you are automatically entered to win great prizes including iPads, Nest Thermostats, a GoPro, an Apple TV, gift certificates, Darn Tough socks and more. Plus, the workplace with the highest score will win the coveted Carbon Cup (not to mention, bragging rights!). Employers can also challenge another business to a Carbon Throwdown, where the winner receives a Carbon Throwdown Trophy. K-12 schools also have a big incentive to participate this year: With a Vermont-manufactured AllEarth Solar Tracker up for grabs, schools are already signing up in hopes to win the tracker, which is estimated to save the winning school $85,000 in power cost over the life of the tracker.
