United Way Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for ways to volunteer this fall? Check out short-term and special event volunteer opportunities with the United Way for the coming months.

Volunteer with Neighbor Rides

Neighbor Rides is a strategic initiative of United Way of Chittenden County supported by a dynamic group of community partners that brings people and places together to help meet the transportation needs of seniors and persons with disabilities. This partnership uses volunteer drivers to leverage government and community-funded transportation programs and help more people by decreasing the cost per ride.

Have You Joined Front Porch Forum?

In a recent survey, nearly four times more FPF members reported feeling "very informed" about local community issues since joining FPF than before they subscribed.

As we slowly make our way toward cooler temperatures, fall conferences and learning opportunities are taking place all over the state -- and we have an exciting one to share with you.

On October 20 at the Lake Morey resort in Fairlee, we will be co-hosting the first Vermont Collective Impact Conference. At this one-day conference, we will convene community partners, business leaders, nonprofits, policy makers, government at all levels, funders, advocates and other stakeholders to explore how we can build our communities through Collective Impact.

Collective Impact is the commitment of a group of people representing different sectors to a common agenda for solving a specific problem. Diverse partners participate, having recognized that no one organization will achieve success without the others. Collective Impact is a concept that's central to our 2013 ECOS Plan, and imperative to meeting our local, regional, and state goals.

This conference will feature a leader in the field of Collective Impact, and is brought to you by the United Way of Chittenden County, the University of Vermont Medical Center, the Vermont Community Foundation, and the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission.

We hope you will consider participating in this unique opportunity to learn more about how Collective Impact can be used in your community to help advance initiatives and promote positive change. Agenda, program details and registration are available at VermontCollectiveImpact.org.

Best regards,

Charlie Baker
Executive Director
