Innovative Sidewalks

Sidewalks may not be synonymous with innovation, but the street-lining surface could soon be a lot different. As technology gets smarter, the routes you take will too. For example, sidewalks may become more porous and absorbent in certain regions to help prevent flooding, and some pathways will even embrace green tech. [Learn More]
Greetings!

As 2013 winds down, we hope you're gearing up for a fun and relaxing holiday season!

The past few weeks have been quite busy at the CCRPC. On November 21, the 23-member Circ Alternatives Task Force held its last of 13 meetings, at which members unanimously approved a final set of 15 projects over a 20-year period.

[VIEW THE NOTES FROM THIS MEETING]

This final set of alternative projects will tackle mobility, congestion and safety issues in the Circ communities of Williston, Essex, Essex Junction and Colchester. They will aid and provide the backbone of transportation infrastructure necessary to support this type of historic settlement pattern, while continuing to protect our region's agricultural and natural resources - as well as our rural community character and way of life.

[VIEW THE FULL LIST OF CIRC ALTERNATIVES PROJECTS HERE]

A big thank you goes to VTrans and CCRPC staff, as well as the consultants who worked tirelessly to achieve a successful Circ Alternatives process.

Happy holidays!

Best Regards,

Michele Boomhower

Assistant/MPO Director
