IMPORTANT - Current Student Registration |
The current student registration deadline of February 29, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. is quickly approaching. Avoid long lines and long wait times by completing all of the steps below at home and in advance. Please do not wait until the last day to register. You will not be able to click submit if the required documents have not been uploaded. No exceptions will be made for applications that are submitted after the deadline.
____________________________________________________________
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- The annual tax assessment notice is NOT an acceptable replacement for the mortgage statement or deed.
- Not having the correct amount of supporting documents. You need two if you own or rent your home. You need three if your name is not on the lease or mortgage/deed.
- If your name is not on the lease or mortgage/deed, your supporting documents must be in your name. They should not be in the person's name on the lease or mortgage/deed.
- Not showing the parent's/guardian's name and address as well as the date on supporting documents for residency when scanning the documents. All three must be on the scanned image in order for it to be valid. Must have a due date on or after January 12, 2016.
- Upload the ID's for emergency contacts in the same order that you listed them on the application. For example, if you listed Lisa Brown as Emergency Contact #1, upload Lisa Brown's ID as Emergency Contact ID #1.
- Affidavit of Residency must be completed annually (each school year).
List of Acceptable Supporting Documents
- Current Georgia driver's license or Georgia identification card if the address on the identification is the same as the residential address
- Bank statement, loan documents, credit card statement, monthly activity statement, voided check
- Home mortgage payment book
- Health insurance, previously issued W-2 or Form 1099, pay stub
- Fulton County property tax statement with evidence thereupon of payment
- Voter registration documentation from Fulton County
- A current motor vehicle registration (tag receipt)

Registration for current students began on February 11, 2016 and will end on February 29, 2016.
NEW THIS YEAR: For all KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, the absolute last day to register current students for the upcoming 2016 - 2017 school year is February 29, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. If you do not click submit to complete registration by then and still want your student to attend for the upcoming school year, you will need to fill out an enrollment application on the KIPP Metro Atlanta website by March 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. and enter the lottery with all other prospective families. If you fill out the application after March 15, 2016 at 5:01 p.m., you will go to the end of the waiting list and will not have any enrollment preferences. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please make sure that you complete the application as soon as possible to allow time for any problems that may arise. Applications that are not in the submitted status by February 29, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. will be considered void.
The process for current student registration will be as follows:
-
The email was sent on February 11, 2016. By now, you should have received an email with the subject line "KIPP Vision Campus - Current Student Registration is Now Open".
If you did not receive the email, email TKnox@kippvisionacademy.org) - The email contains a unique snapcode link for each student for registration. Click on the link to begin the registration application. Please note that all registration information and documents should be submitted online through the registration application.
- If you are applying for bus transportation for the 2016 - 2017 school year, (morning, afternoon, or after care), you must complete the section of the application for bus transportation by the current student registration deadline. There is not a separate application this year. Failure to complete this section may result in your student not having bus transportation for the 2016 - 2017 school year.
- Once you have completed the information section of the registration application, you will be taken to the documents upload page where you will need to upload the required documents listed below.
- Documents must be scanned, saved and then, uploaded. If you do not have a scanner at home, below is the link to a video tutorial for a free scanning app on phones and tablets named Cam Scanner. If you do not wish to use this resource or one similar to it, you can go to the KVC Parent Center, Office Depot, Staples, FedEx Kinkos or some libraries. Go to https://vimeo.com/125634602 (for uploading using a computer) or https://vimeo.com/155006804
(for uploading using a mobile device) to watch a tutorial on how to use Cam Scanner and how to upload documents.
- Required Documents
- Government issued ID for enrolling parent and all emergency contacts
- Updated Immunizations for 6th and 7th grade students ONLY (FYI for KVP families with scholars at one of our middle schools)
- Proof of Residency
- Deed/Mortgage Statement/Lease (mortgage statements and leases must be dated within 30 days of submission date)
- Affidavit of Residency. The Affidavit of Residency must be notarized. We have notaries available on-site that can notarize documents for $5.00. Any documents that are notarized on-site can be scanned and uploaded for you.
- Georgia Power Bill (must be dated within 30 days of submission date)
- Two - Three Supporting Documents for Residency Verification (water bill, cable bill, phone bill, insurance bill, etc. - must be dated within 30 days of submission date). If you own or rent your residence, you need two supporting documents. If you live with someone else and your name is not on the lease or mortgage, you need three supporting documents that have your name on them with the address.
IMPORTANT: Do not submit your application until you have uploaded all required documents. Once you submit the application, you will not be allowed to resubmit or make any changes.
Once you click submit, we will be able to access your current student registration application and documents. You do NOT need to come to the school and bring your documents as the final step. We will review applications and documents online and contact you directly if there is an issue with any of your submissions. Otherwise, you will receive an email once your application has been approved and no further steps are required.

Principal's Corner |
Family,
Wow! As of today, we have 516 applications for kindergarten, 264 applications for first grade, 220 applications for 2nd grade and 246 applications for 3rd grade. Can you believe it? We have 1,246 families all wanting to send their scholars to OUR school for the 2016-2017 school year. That's something to be proud of!
How did we do it? How do perspective families know that KIPP Vision Primary School had the highest College and Career Readiness Point Index of all elementary schools in Atlanta? How do they know that OUR students continue to academically outperform our KIPP cousins (KIPP Strive Primary and KIPP WAYS Primary) each and every year? How do interested families know that not only do we academically outperform our peers, but we also have the highest parent and student satisfaction scores of all of the KIPP Metro Atlanta schools? How do they know that while KIPP demands a lot from it's families, it is the best decision that a family can make for their scholars? How do they know that KIPP Vision Primary School is the right place for their scholars?
They know because of YOU! When asked how parents found out about KIPP Vision Primary School, the number one response is "I heard about KIPP Vision Primary School from a KVP Parent". Thank YOU! The word is out about KVP because you are sharing your experiences and your successes stories with neighbors, co-workers, family and friends and for that I THANK YOU.
Here's an example of what YOU have to say about KVP:
My first memory of KVP is attending the lottery, praying that my child would be a recipient of a golden ticket to attend. KVP was the ONLY option for our family because we were zoned to an elementary school that needed improvement. We were not at all familiar with KIPP schools and were nervous, but it has been quite a rewarding experience for our scholar. Kyleigh joined the school as a blank slate (Montessori approach prior to kindergarten) and now, we are amazed at what she is learning, understanding and retaining.
I love the uniform policy (less guesswork and frustration in the morning), the extra-curricular offerings and school hours. Kyleigh's teachers provide additional learning materials and resources for areas in which she struggles. Further, her educators are easily accessible at convenient hours throughout the day, should we have questions or concerns. We have been fortunate that Kyleigh has been placed with stern teachers that pair well to her extremely talkative and energetic personality. She knows it is time
to perform and concentrate when class begins. Lastly, I have found that the core values that Kyleigh is learning is being displayed outside of school.I highly recommend KIPP Vision Primary without reservation."
- M. Taylor
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The journey continues,
Dr. Wheda A. Carletos, Ph.D.

Journey Cards and End of the Year Trips
Many of you are well on your way to having the total number of stamps needed to help your scholar meet the end of the year trip criteria. To be clear, your scholar needs 80 out of a possible 100 total points to be eligible for the trip. This means that he/she will need to earn 33 academic points, 34 character points, and 13 parent points to reach 80. Parents do not need to have all spaces on the cards stamped, only 13. Of course, you can aim for all of them if you'd like. Please see page 58 of the Family Handbook for more information. The family handbook is on the KIPP Vision Primary website. The link is listed below for your convenience.
Please be sure to get your journey card stamped for all your visits (e.g. helping in the classroom, parent conferences, Writing Portfolio Night, Math Night, attending field trips, Title I meetings, Visionary lunches, Friday Celebration, etc.)
End of the Year Trip Payments
Please review the informational flyer for your scholar's trip to ensure you are meeting the payment deadlines. For example, January 29 was the deadline to make the first payment of the payment plan for the second grade trip to Savannah. Please know that full payments will be accepted at any time as long as the final payment date is honored.

5 Coping Skills for Children
Comfort your child. There may be times when your child does not want to talk and just having a parent nearby engaging in a shared activity or giving them a cuddle is helpful. Reassure your child when they are feeling worried or unsure. For example, you could say, "it is a big playground but there is an area for just the little kids to play."
Demonstrate and model ways that you cope with situations. For example, you could say, "I am going to take five deep breaths to help myself relax." Prepare your child for changes. Talk positively with your child about school, show them their new surroundings and do activities together that relate to starting school, such as reading stories about change. Encourage help-seeking by teaching your child when to ask for help. For example, your child could ask a teacher for help to open their lunch box. Encourage your child by talking positively about their attempts to cope.
