How to Talk to Your Child About What's Going on in the News
Television or internet coverage of upsetting events like natural disasters, terrorist attacks, or mass shootings can cause kids to worry that something similar could happen to them or their loved ones. It can also make them fear some aspects of everyday life - things that never worried them before. Help your child by putting the news in its proper context and addressing their concerns. Click here for a helpful article on how to start that conversation. If you are in emotional distress caused by recent events or know someone who is, find help with this  free resource  or by calling the Disaster Distress Hotline at 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746.
